Wiper stud broken

Anyone ever fixed one? This is the part that the wiper are goes through with a nut on the outer end, I was thinking about drilling, Using a tap and die set to use a small bolt that would screw into the base.
I need to do this to get it to pass inspection.
Thoughts?
If no one has, I will do a little write up if anyone wants.

not yet, I was rewiring the 40 tonight, Maybe in the next day or so, I will work on it, I just wasnt sure if anyone had tried to drill and tap the part.

I may need to do that after I try tapping it

Thanks Mark, It will be a month or so till I get that out to you.

I will see what I can come up with tonight about fixing the wiper piece.
