Any help with following questions would be great. Last summer, I stripped the old fj40 down to the frame and gave her a little tlc. V8, nv4500, SO, 4 wheel disks, saginaw ps, dana hybrid front with hysteer, lockers, bla, bla bla. Anyways, I put in a painless wiring harness and have been extremely pleased. Never got around to getting the wipers working, it being summer and all. Initially thought it was a bad motor, but after screwing with it for a while i got it to spin, although not reliably. Also had a crappy switch. Bought a new switch off e bay and cleaned 'er up, still no spin. Next I busted out the wiring diagrams (Haynes manuals) and the volt meter and went to work. Now I'm PO'd and need a hand. I've narrowed the problem to the wiper return switch on the back of the motor. After reading the diagrams and hooking everything up how I think is correct, and also how I think is not correct, I keep blowing fuses and still no spin. can someone tell me how that mechanism is supposed to function? I understand it is supposed to cycle the wipers to "park" when the switch is turned off, but I can't figure it out. Add to that the rig is a 74, 74 motor I assume and I think I got a 72 switch. Toyota kept all the same color wires for those years but switched there place and functions. help! I don't want to blow 200 bucks on a new motor if I dont have to. Thanks in advance.

Have you separated the motor from the rest of the assembly. I've seen the cable between the two wiper shafts seize and hold up a perfectly good motor.
