total cost of fuel: under $120 for the van and $17 for the PZ

one serious pull, water in the headlight, mud in the drums, mud in the intake, mud in the fuel door, water in the truck, frozen door this morning, frozen fuel door, wet seat, wet blanket in the back, throttle still sticks a bit, diffs clunk first thing in the morning and then you hear ice grenading in the diff, brakes are stiff at first, oil change, diff fluid change, air filter replacement and a broken winch controller.

all in all well worth the cost for a wicked weekend...

. . . and glad to hear you're happy to be back in southern ontario! :steer:

the nice thing i have found in the RMLCA is the core group was honest, loyal and true friends. the trouble makers would come to a couple/few meetings and if they were loud, rude or full of themselves they left the same way. no one made them leave, it was a choice that they made

Dave is a good leader and with proper support i can see the UCC becoming the same form of "family" the RMLCA was/is. Personally i am going to give it all i can to make the club work and i hope others do the same.

great run, great peeps...

cheers M8s

true, true. and btw, thanks Dave for holdin it down! the newsletters have been great and informative and the meets have been organized really well. whatever i can do to help, just let this newb know. :)

I guess North-Central Ontario Wheelin' would have been a better way to put it. How easy it is to forget that Ontario goes WAY further North than the Parry Sound area.

Mr. MoMo do you know of any trails in the Kingston area? I know there is a group of guys that do runs out there - Eastern Ontario Trail Blazers? I would be up for making the trek to Ktown for a run. Went to school there.

Canada in the snow

Thank you for sharing the photo's, and video's of your winter

trip. I was raised in the mountains of eastern tennessee and my

first wheeling in a CJ2a heep then a FJ55 and FJ60 were in

conditions and scenery very similar to what you posted. The

high alt. of the eastern mountains in winter is very similar to your

photos of canada. Sure brings back wonderful memories of my

youth. Keep plugging for members it will come. From a Dixie

Cruiser in South Carolina again thank you for the wonderful post.

Unfortunately, no... I don't know of any trails around here - but to be honest, I havn't really looked that hard. I know of a few short "un-assumed" roads - but havn't been to them for a few years - and they are not all that long. I'll keep my eyes open though. Maybe as suggested above, the EOTB and the UCC and the OVO could get together somewhere between TO & OT. Hmmm, Sounds like K-town!! Anyway - I'll keep my eyes out for potential trails.

i know there has been some talk between Louis and myself about a 2 club meet over closer to him to try out his trails come spring.
so if you guys are interested then keep your holidays free for traveling

I'm in Peterborough right now but I'll be in Ottawa for the rest of the month and then some. I know of a trail near Calabogie, and I've heard of another one out in Kaladar (HWY 7) from another cruiser guy. It would be great to get together and do some winter runs.

Awesome thread guys... Great pictures and write up... I so need a new truck, so I can have a wheelin rig....
Love the tractor tires, difinitaly the way I would go for a wheelin rig...

why do you need a new truck?
go out and buy a set of 16" rims, now buy a set of 33" tractor tires, now buy or borrow a small trailer. haul the trailer out to the base camp and swap tires once you get there.
a stock LC with 33" tractor tires is an unbelievable performer.

or go buy another nice LC as your DD and turn this one into your off road rig.
or go buy a civic as a DD and turn this one into your off road rig.

nope, i took a complete set of 4 for Jeremy's stock 62 but he decided to ride with me.
and i had a set for the 81 but never got them installed...

just a heads up to the Ontario Cruiserheads.
we are going to attempt to finish this trail April 17th, 18th 19th on the WSSR run. (Wayne's s*** Show Run).
all are invited but there are a few requirements:

good attitude, this is most important for all involved. s*** does happen and when it does we all gather around to fix the problem. the more hands there are helping the less work it is for one person.

common sense, don't drink and drive, save it for camp. if there are people or animals around then drive carefully. pot is illegal, period. listen to those with more experience.

tow hooks front and rear, if you don't have them then you sit till you put them on OR the tug is not responsible for damages to your truck. princess auto sells a pinto hitch that is a direct bolt on to any land cruiser and they sell the hooks for the front for $5 each WITH MOUNTING BOLTS.

winter/wet gear, winter boots, coat hat and good gloves, COMPLETE change of clothes, i fyou are going to drive through water then rubber boots are a good idea.

tools, princess auto has a deal on 225 pice tool set with box for cheap, good investment but at least a basic tool set is a good idea.

tugg'm, clevass, go buy at least a 30 ft tugg'm and a couple clevasses, cheap and you will at least have something to tug with. !! NO CHAINS!! they do too much damage both to the tug and the stuck rig.

tire chains, if you are running a stock rig then tire chains are a good idea, not a necessity but a damn nice to have.

food, enough food to keep you going for 2 days. water, very important. (booze is not water)

decent tires, bald tires suck, semi bald tires suck. even street tires with good tread are better than bald mud tires.

make sure your brakes work, you engine is running okay and your charging system is up to snuff.

cheers guys.

OK, so I might be down for that... as well as the "newbie" MooseCruiser whom I have just addicted. Also have a common friend with a real cool old military Landie soft top. He is up for it too if Landies can be allowed on a cruiser trip :D

those bugs of yours are cool...

Roverboy, eh? hummm, he isn't from NZ is he?

see you at the next meeting the last sunday of Feb and we can discuss this more...

Yeah, I've made a few "spark bugs", haven't made any in a while. Need to change the glow plugs in the 3B so I can make some "glow bugs" Maybe I'll bring a few for prizes for the "best stuck" or "best recovery" or something...

look forward to meeting the eastern M8s
shoot me an email to wayne@crushersrule.com and i will add you to the mailing list to keep you updated.

cheers M8s
