I have been enjoying :steer: the old girl since she's been road worthy and have been neglecting the odds and ends that still need done.

I have run up against a few issues. First is the windshield vent. I have assembled (what I have) and installed (the way I think it should be) and I can't get it to close.:bang:

Does any one have any pics of their vent that is working properly?
After looking at the pics, am I missing any parts?

I don't think I installed it upside down due to the alignment, but you never know:rolleyes:

Next:

I have received all my hardtop parts back from the paint shop (aka blackhole, DESTIN I'm sure you can relate), and am unsure if I have the right weather stripping. I ran across a thread yesterday saying that they don't have one available anymore. I purchased a hardtop kit from $OR years ago, and they knew what year cruiser it was for.

Any help would be appreciated.

Looks good...it just doesn't work!

During my years of assembly I misplaced the backing plate that pinches the rubber seal. I ordered a replacement from $OR and was once again told that it was correct for my application.

It appears that it is, but the lower part of the "track" pictured in the first pic won't go back in the windshield frame.:bang:

If anyone needs better pics of the situation let me know. It will be a few days as she is back in the shop with a blown freeze plug. No biggie, but it still pisses me off a bit.

You installed the backer upside down, I can see it ready to hit the opening in the outside pic.

At least you didn't weld it in.

I agree. Having just done mine your's looks upside down.

I didn't realize that the screens went on the outside...I was trying to get mine to fit on the inside. Thanks for the photos!

Thanks for the confirmation guys. I have yet to get her back with new freeze plugs installed, but I'll do the flip as soon as I do.

Anyone with any comments on the weather stripping for the hardtop?
