I have a 1983 BJ42. I had to replace the rubber seal on the windshield when doing the restoration. Turns out the rubber seal OEM from Toyota that I ordered for that year does not fit. Then I remembered the previous owner saying that he replaced the frame as it was pretty bad. It turns out he likely replaced it with another years frame have does not fit.
When we took the glass out and accidentally broke it we cut a piece to fit the opening and determined that the glass in the frame I have is not exactly rectangular and symmetrical like the one for a 1983. The glass is almost the same but flanges out slightly near the bottom so the rubber I have which is meant for the more rectangular windshield does not fit snug... it leaves a half to one inch gap at the bottom corners.
The windshield frame I have by the way has holes on the top for wipers but the previous fellow cut new holes and mounted them lower as it was on the '83
Any ideas what rubber I should order to make this work?
Thanks in advance for your help!
