Could I get an FJ62 driver's side window motor to work in my 91' FJ80? I'm gettin tired of opening the door every time I through somewhere...and it makes wheeling a lot more interesting...

are you sure it is not the switch? I had a dying then dead D/S window turned out to be the switch

Have you tried to swap it for the motor on one of the rear windows.
I did it on my LJ70 & it works a treat.

The part numbers are not the same. You may or may not be able to cobble it togther.

I you haven't yet, pull the door panel off and check to make sure it's the motor, i thought the same thing recently when my window quit moving up and down, it was just the track, it had slid over and moved out of contact with the roller, an easy job, Brad.

I agree that the motor is usually the last component to fail with window problems. Notwithstanding that observation, I just had to replace a PS front motor on a 2000 Corolla.

This is a 2  job - assuming the Cruiser and Corolla have a similar design - but if you have never pulled a motor from a regulator, be very careful that you clamp the gear wheel to the regulator track securely before you unbolt the motor. If you do not, there is a serious spring in there that has enough tension on it to do some major damage to your fingers if they get tangled in the regulator mechanism.

Cheers, R -

PS: The drawings in the FSM suggest the Cruiser power window mechanism design is very similar, if not identical to the Corolla mentioned above. Also, there is a troubleshooting procedure you can use to determine if the motor is actually bad before you pull the regulator/motor assembly out of the door.

I took the door panel off last weekend the track and everything are fine. I press the button and the window slighly moves but not up or down. Makes a clunk noise and nothing really happens. I think it's the regulator of the motor I assume I have to buy a whole new motor or ?

I found a used motor for $75 but it's from a 93 :(

It will fit. 91-97 motors will interchange.

are there two roller bushings from the scissor thing fed into the track? The slight movement sounds like something is stuck or jammed or popped out of place in there.

From what it looks like everything is in proper order, nothing is stuck but I'm a newb and prolly am missing something. Plus it's a bitch trying to see through the holes in the door to look at the motor and the arms and all the other stuff that has to do with the window :D

So, are the part numbers the same? I just don't want to buy a motor and find out it doesn't work....

Has anyone ever tried pulling apart one of the window motors and replacing the brushes? Just curious. Both of my rear windows are not functioning properly right now. I'm wondering if I could retrofit manual crank hardware from a 60 door? Has anyone tried this too? I hate electric accessories on trucks I want to keep forever...

I tried search and didn't find anything on this.

'93 FZJ80 locked and stock for now

One other related quickie. Is there a manual override crank somewhere on the door where you can close the window with an allen wrench or something?

The window on my drivers rear door quit working yesterday. Mine was an easy fix but it took me awhile to figure out it was just the track had slid too far over. This type of mirror helped me look around at all the other components. You can get cheap ones at any discount auto parts shop. Comes in handy more often than you would think.
