Wish I woulda found this old thread before I tried to install my CCOT door window channel. The socket trick helped some but not near enough. So I took a heat gun and melted the fuzz. I now can highly recommend avoiding aftermarket for front door channels.

I have just installed the CCOT window channels, Toyota outside window belt and CCOT aftermarket inside window belt. I am very pleased with how it all came out. The window channel especially. I did not remove the front lower channel so I started my new upper channel at that point. I left a tail on the aft lower end which provides alignment to the aft lower channel. I then used the excess length to replace what had been installed in the aft lower channel. FWIW, I raised the window all the way up and taped it after removing the two screws that attach to the regulator. I could then lower and remove the new regulator and set aside. This allows lowering the door window all the way down for installing the channel and the belts. I had a piece of 5mm thick X 1/2" wide steel on hand, about 12" long. I sanded it smooth and put a radius on the corners and along the narrow end. I used that to push the channel up into the frame. On the passenger door I had followed instructions (even made up a pair of duckbill vice grips for the job) and squished it a bit. I didn't do that on the drivers door and it actually worked out better. If I were to caution anything is to not push the channel too tightly into the upper corners, you can actually push the channel in tighter than the radius on the glass which requires pulling it out and re-doing it and allowing the window glass to actually finish positioning. Of course make sure you thoroughly grease the gear rack of the regulator. I do it like a wheel bearing, just push it in from one side until it comes out the other side. Smooth, quiet operation. Happy camper.
