Note: These pics are of the 80 series' 3rd-row windows' bug screens, but I also am offering the 2nd-row windows' for the 80, 70, 100, as well as other Toyota SUVs' 2nd-row bug screens, such as the 4Runner (130/180/210) and the Prado (70/90/95/120/5dr).

OK, this is something that I had been meaning/wanting to do for a long time!
But I am now finally in the process of getting the window screens for the 3rd-row windows for the 80 series Land Cruiser. :bounce:

Here are some pics of the prototype that I have received today.

The final version will look identical to these pics, except I'm making a couple of small adjustments to make them look/function perfect. ;)

The installation is very straight forward and simple!

-Wedge the large piece in to the window channel.
-Slide the screen all the way to the left of the channel/window frame.
-Stick the narrow/vertical piece into the right side gap where the two sliding glass pieces meet.
-Then simply put the two pieces (screen piece and the narrow/vertical piece) together by velcro.

It fits like a glove! :D

Although I would feel good about putting them in before you depart for the campground and driving there without losing them to the wind I would recommend that you install them when you arrive at the camp site, just to be on the safe side!

Anyway, I am planning on ordering 10 sets of the 80 series 3rd-row screens.
If you want them, please reserve your set as I am not planning to order any additional sets unless I can get an order of 10 or more in the future (To minimize cost/your price).

I might get some for the 2nd-rows as well at the same time (for the 80 and the 100), but if I do, it'll just be a few. If you want them for your 4Runner's or the GX470 (Prado in Japan), please let me know.

Anyway, I'm going to ask $95, plus shipping for these bug screens for each pair.
For other vehicles, if we can combine your order(s) to make up 10 sets, then I should be able to offer them for the same price of $95, plus shipping.

The 3rd-row screens can be either sent for $13 via slow air (3-4 weeks, no tracking, no insurance) or $28 via express air (1 week, online tracking, insured). The 2nd-row screens are a bit too large to qualify for the slow air shipping, so it'll be $28 via express air only.

Let me know if you want to get these screens for the upcoming camping season, so you can stay cool in your vehicle w/o worrying about getting stung/bitten by annoying bugs.

Thanks!!

Mot

Nice work. I'm going to add these to my list. Are you going to stock a few sets or is this a pay to order?

I'll have to get at least 10 sets of these as that is the minimum number I have to receive the price that I was quoted and to be able to offer them to you for $95, plus shipping.

I'm not planning on ordering any more than that, at least at this time.

But if I want to order any other vehicles screens, at any quantity this time around I would be able to get them at the same price, since I'll already be getting 10 sets for the 3rd-row windows for the 80.

Anything after this order I'll have to scrounge 10 orders, for one vehicle or various vehicles combined, to be able to offer them for $95, plus shipping.

So if you're contemplating getting the screens for vehicles/windows, other than the 3rd-row sliding ones (Again, I'm obligated to get 10 of them right now), I would place the order now, since I'm not planning on ordering any of them, other than the 2nd-row window screens for the 80/100 (Only a couple of them, I'm planning). Of course I would be able to get them pretty much anytime, but I won't be able to get them as cheap!

If you're just interested in the 3rd-row window screens, then I don't think you'll need to rush, because I don't think they'll sell like hotcakes!

Let me know if I can help!!

Mot

Thanks Mot I'm after the 3rd-row screens. I know a few folks in the club that would be interested. I'll post the link for them.

You LOCK!!! :hillbilly:

I'd appreciate that very much!! :crybaby:

Hey, thanks a bunch!!

I think these are pretty nifty, if I may say so myself!

Thanks again!!

Screens for 80

Mot,

Please reserve a pair a 2nd row window and a pair of 3rd row window screens for an 80.

UPDATE

OK, I've just ordered 13 sets of the 3rd-row screens and 7 sets of the 2nd-row ones. (But I'm going to save a pair of each for myself!)

I know that some of you have expressed interest via PM, but just as I've asked Dr. Gil to do, please post on this thread if you want a pair reserved (Not just "interested") for you and please specify which row/windows you want set aside.

The ETA is about a week from today.

Thanks again and hope you'll take advantage of this great opportunity for the upcoming camping season!! (I guess it's not upcoming anymore, but already here!!!)

I'll try to install both types when I receive them and let you know how they look/fit, especially the 2nd-row screens.

THANKS AGAIN!!

Mot :)

I have the 2nd row screens for the 100, I like them alot.

mot, do 3rd row screens for the 100 series exist ? I would love to have some that I can leave in place all the time and just be able to open the windows - perfect for parking in hot places in bug season...

Mot,

Put me down for 1 set of the 3rd row screens, express shipping. Sleeping in the cruiser, this is something I've wanted for a couple of years now!

Let me know when you need payment (paypal?).

Thanks, Sean!

I am not upto speed on the 100 series 3rd-row configuration, but I thought they just had the back end open a few inches (Not sliing, rolling down, etc...) Is that correct???

If so, I don't know what would be the best design for something like that!

Any input, anyone???

Brent,

Thanks again for your interest!

I prefer to have the goods before getting paid for them, so please hold off on sening me the fund until I have the screens in my possession, if you don't mind!

THANKS AGAIN!!

:hhmm: yeah they hinge at the front and open at the back, motorized on a dash swtich. I will go look and take a pic, just a minute.....

Yeah there's no channel like a regular window, you'd have to make something that clips into this space between the weatherstripping and the inside plastic. Looks pretty doable though...

Hi Mot,
As discussed on PM-land, I will take a 3rd-row screen, 80 series.
I'm doing a little 'overland expedition' camping in August in da UP of Michigan-- they'll definitely come in very handy, stopping the fist-sized mosquitos. :)
Thanks,
Kenton

Hey Mot ,
I am intrested in one set of third row screens. They look pretty sweet. When do you need the money? Just let me know and I will do the paypal. I will do the snail mail. I am a whole coast away from my cruiser till I get knee surgury. I might miss the camping season but I know I will use them in the future while fishing and camping.

I would like more info on the second row screens. I might be intrested in those also. I plan on a RTT but I wont always need that on my fishing trips so I might spend more time in the back of my 80 where the 2nd row screens might become invaluable.

Sean,

I'll talk to the shop when I pick up the screens in the next day or two about the possibility of making them for the 3rd-row for 100. (Not being too optimistic, but that's just the way I am!)

Kenton/TID,

I'll post up when I get the goods and hopefully post some pics of the 2nd-row screen installation as well as I am curious myself about the 2nd-row now!

Too bad I haven't been able to use mine yet!!

Mot :)

I've received a fax from the shop today(yesterday) saying that the screens are in!

I'm hoping to pick them up today and will let you know what I find out!

Actually there's very few bugs here in August. I'll be on that run too...
