Hi guys I want to know if this idea will work for winching.

What I want to do is run a mid mounted winch and run the line forward and then to the back

Will this work if I use dynamica and put Warn 73851 Hawse Fairlead in the place of the blue lines, will the line create too much friction across the alloy being that it is pulled on a 90* angle?

Cheers.:)

Those 90 deg bends are tough on almost any rope. Dynamica's website says "Dyneema has good bending-bending properties. However it is recommended to bend over diameters of at least five times the diameter of the rope."

Maybe you could fab something removable with hard mounted pulleys for routing rope to the rear of the rig?

A few more beers and a bit moe discussion also came up with these designs both the same layout showing diversity

Do a search for Foer and Ibix.

He runs a winch setup sorta like your idea. No doubt: you will be much better off using pulleys than a simple fairlead.

I bet you can't wait to get stuck in teh mud and have to reconfigure the winch line to go the opposite direction..

That is the reason I came up ith this design and it also gives alot f room between fairlead and winch meaning that the SWR should lay on the drum fairly even.:)
