Ive made a new front bar , but realy only have the 2 12mm bolts at the end of each chassis rail too attatch it too.... The smaller bolts on the side of each rail are either stripped or i cant get a bolt in with the winch mounted... would the 2 12mm bolts be enough if i use grade 8 or 10 bolts ?

i have stuffed an 80 series winch right in tight , but it has too be fitted too the bar befor i stick the bar on .

Two won't hold up in a good frontender you need to tap out those side mounts and add more bolts.

Oz is right. If bolts can be passed through and still be accesble to a wrench, I'd drill out the holes.

I bought individual taps last summer. I am always runnng them through holes with rust.

I had the same issue with mine a few years back, and my thread chaser didn't even work on them. I drilled through, added washers on both ends and new nuts.

My other 70 has a factory winch and one side only has the single 12mm bolt. The otber side has a big plate that picks up the 2 small bolts on the side aswell..... whats the strength of 2 12mm high tensile bolts ?.....i dont intend too use it much and the pins in our crane hooks at work arent much different in size

A winch uses 4 bolts to hold it to a base, generally, so I think you'll need at least 4 bolts the same size that the winch uses to attach it to the frame.

Also, your frame metal will need to be in good shape (not rusty) to make sure everything holds well if you do use the winch.

Yea my frame is good but there is not alot of material in front f the 2 12mm bolts but it is pretty surprising how much force it takes too snap 2 grade 8 or 10 bolts though. Ive got a nice snug fit top bottom and inside with the mounts too so it shouldnt twist at all.
