I'm pretty new to the whole winch world and looking at building a winch mount for the truck (94 ExtraCab). I have a C-Channel mount that came with the used winch I bought. It looks as though I could use it, and some 1 x 3 x 1/4 angle I have and make a bolt on winch mount. I have no idea if this is a good idea or if I'm just going to rip the bolts out. I plan on utilizing the 4 holes with captive nuts on the front crossmember, the 4 tow hook holes (moving the tow hooks to the bottom of the mount) and the 2 threaded holes behind the town hooks on the frame. The plan so far is to use grade 10.9 metric bolts for all the holes, along with lock washers, and maybe washers to spread the load more. The winch is a Warn MX8000, that I'm in the process of regreasing and checking the motor out on. I ordered the Superwinch Contactor that I will be locating under the hood somewhere. I plan on (for now) keeping the stock bumper and tucking the winch under the middle where it arches up, and maybe integrating a bar to protect the winch, maybe a couple of offroad lights, and possibly even a front receiver into it.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for all the info I've read on here before I finally decided to register!

Thanks for the response. I kinda figured it would be okay with the 10 mounting points. I'm pretty new to winches still, although I did have a grip brand farm store winch on a Samurai when I was 16. However, it came on it when I bought it, and it's mount was welded to the frame and the bumper was built off of it. On another note I got my winch motor spinning tonight! A friend with access to a machine shop is making me new "rods" that go across the top of the winch to bolt the spool plates together. If all goes well I'll find out if I got the gear side right tomorrow, and hopefully my contactor shows up later this week, as the solenoids that came with the winch look pretty rought.
