Looking for a temporary solution to use my RTT this month vs waiting for a rack to be built. My tent is about 160 lbs

Will these Amazon crossbars on stock rails hold better than the stock 100 series crossbars?

Amazon product ASIN B07FYCT4RS
Thanks for the input

The stock rack can't handle that much weight for a dynamic load, so won't support the tent while driving. It also won't support the added wait static when you climb into the tent.

The 80/20 extrusions are a good idea.

As above, 8020 on factory rails. Run this with a ROAM Vagabond for ~8K miles, rock solid with regular torque check and inspection of the connection between 8020 and rails.

Probably cheaper than those bars too, all said and done.

I saw the 8020 option but it just doesn't seem like a lot of space below the rack to mount the RTT.
Fair point. Clearance is tight and you may need to file down the ends of the bolts coming from the RTT mounts.

Installation is made easier with a pair of AirShim’s from Home Depot. Placed between roof and 8020, you can create a little room to work without imposing excessive or focused forces on the roof.

I ended up using superstruts like BIGMF'S post (link below). Instead of having all the weight on the L bracket and the stock rail slots, I added a u bolt on the outside (see pics).

I am not an engineer but I just assume that the u bolt helps pull the bar down on the rails so it'll help distribute the weight on the rail(?)

Maybe not a good looker, especially since I didn't paint anything lol, but it'll work for my next few trips before I decide to fork the money for a Prinsu.

I think I spent $50-60 for this setup. Driven over 200 miles with a 160lbs tent on top and so far, no movements etc. I am thinking of adding a 3rd superstrut cross bar just to be sure it's solid as f.

Feel free to critique.
