I currently have a 2.5" lift on my 2006 tacoma. I am not sure what brand it is but Les schwabb installed it about 5 years ago. It is a spacer up front and an add a leaf in the rear. I am considering changing to an OME lift but want to make sure I will see an improvement if I spend the money. Will the ride improve? Will I bottom out on the rear suspension less? Is it worth the money to change or will it just be similar enough that its not worth the $$?

The OME should improve the "harshness" of the ride on the street, and should perform much better on bumpy/washboard type roads. As I recall, you have 3 spring rates to choose from up front, which will also drive how much you left get proportionate to the extra weight (if any) you carry up front. If you have a stock front end, look at the 885 springs for the front. 886 are good if you carry a bumper, winch, dual batteries, etc.

In the back, the AAL is slightly better than what you would get with a straight lift block, but cannot complete with the improvements of an OME leaf pack that has more and thinner leaves. It should improve flexibility, load capacity and potentially bottoming out - depending on how much weight you have in the back.

I have run spacer's on my first Taco a Tundra and my 4runner. I currently have an OME kit on my 04 Taco and am not that impressed. I have an ARB bumper on the front so I did get the stiffer springs and it still settled a little. As for the rear I would rather run a shackle lift then the AAL or blocks. The AAL makes for a stiffer ride and the blocks will give you axle wrap. I have been most impressed with the shackle.

IMO, if you don't have the TRD package I would just upgrade your shocks to Bilsteins and switch the AAL for a shackle lift and save your money.

The OME lift is back on my mind again (busy summer). Can those of you out there running this on a 2005 or newer tacoma give me some feed back. Any issues that you ran into on the install and any post install issues? I had an OME lift on my FJ-62 and it was great but there are always lessons learned from those with experience. Also any tips on install?

Pull the trigger on that OME. I had a similar setup on mine and called Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters. No comparison! The rear leaf pack and shocks really improved the ride and gave me a bit more clearance. I should have done this to my truck from the start.

Thanks again!

Ordered the OME suspention and ARB bumper from Kurt last week. I will put the bumper on with the 886 springs but the winch will be down the road. How is the ride going to be?

Awesome! Looking forward to pics. I think you will be happy with the ride, a bit more firm than stock but by no means harsh. Your going to love the stance and clearance you truck has after the install. Give it a month for that new suspension to break in and soften a bit.
