People of iH8Mud!

I have a weird question!!!

So in one of the countries that I have business in in South America, we imported a few RHD LC200s from Japan for a new venture in the region.
They're fully loaded with the whole factory spoiler package and all, and the 5.7 V8s.
Im absurdly excited to say the least as that part of the start-up budget was clearly controlled by me...

Heres my issue... me no speaky japanese :( ... as much as i wish i could...

I cant use the radio cus I cant read anything!!!

Heres the question... Can I simply buy USDM Radio Head Units, and swap these JDM ones out???

Will all the plugs n such match up??

rain your wisdoms on me please!

Hopefully someone with real knowledge will chime in. Meanwhile I provide some things to think about given I really have no idea about wiring plugs.

But there would almost have to be some sort of differences.

1. I'm pretty sure all the US model came with the high end stereo installation with 14 speakers, USB port compatible with an ipod, etc. Just something to check given there are different models available in other locations with likely differing speaker wiring (true between LC and LX models here).

2. Unless things have changed, Japan doesn't support Sirius XM radios, but IIRC they have an alternate sat radio available - no idea about antenna interfaces.

3. Similar to #2, the FM bands differ and so might an antenna.

Arguing the other side, the companies that sell Navigation overrides in the US (Prestigious Society for one) import those from Japan (or at least they used to back when I had a 2011 Tacoma) so some functions/wiring are likely to be the same.

I suspect you can toggle the language to english. Ask Mr. T or your local dealer. The dealer can access things with "techstream" that you can't (unless you buy the fancy obd2 techstream cable and software on ebay...)

So the problem i'm having is with the physical buttons on the head unit, not the touch screen, they're in Japanese characters

thank you for the insights!

i'm hoping someone one here can throw on a picture of the back of a USDM-2017 LC200 head unit... then i can at least compare the plugs to see if they'll match up...

i'm hoping its as simple as Toyota having a different part number for different language on the head unit :(

Best I can offer

If you can change the language on the screen, maybe you can just replace the buttons. I hear those head units are pricey, like 3k+. Or put stickers on the buttons, or pop them off, paint them black and then put the english names on them.

From left to right they are:
