Hi guys. Does anyone know if the exhaust pattern is the same between a JDM Surf and USA 4Runner? Both have the same engine 3VZE. Thea reason I ask is that my 1994 Surf needs a new muffler / rear exhaust pipe. The prices shipped for one for a 1994 4Runner are cheaper than what I have found locally so far.

What side does the exhaust exit on the US model?

Thanks!

Good question! If nothing more than b/c my info I have lists very similar numbers but, IIRC, U.S. spec exits on the driver's side, left while the JDM's exit on the right, based on the fact that I have the part number for the JDM right side floorboard heat reflect shield to use with my Thorley header install.

Are you talking factory parts or aftermarket? Basically from the collector back it's the same stuff, center pipe, cat-conv, muffler, tailpipe with only the tailpipes being bent differently.

I just need the rear exhaust pipe / muffler. JDM exits left. Just need a cheap aftermarket to pass inspection.

I would guess they're not. When I recently bought my stock Toyota muffler/tailpipe, the dealer needed the VIN because there are two or three variations, even among standard cab '92 4x4 in US. At least that's the case with the 4cyl.
Second gen 4runner 6cyl exhaust exits left, so maybe you're OK.

It's not how hard it is, but how much. An oil filter for example costs $14.

Do your 3VZE's have the same head gasket problem? :D I can't imagine that the exhausts would be different unless there were different smog reasons... I'd say order the 4RUnner muffler and if it's different, then just return it... Or does that cost money too? Hehehe :D Best of luck!
