I have a 70 coming from Montreal and have the chance to buy a cheap set of 34x9.5x15 TSL Swampers locally.

Will these fit under a 70 with stock height springs??

In what I've read killing time on here, I guess a lot of people run 35 x 12.5's with a 2.5" lift and the axle moved forward a bit. I think with either shackles or a small body lift it's doable.

Yes. I run those exact tires mounted on Toyota steel wheels under my BJ70 for off road trips. The truck has OME springs under it for a slight lift and I get slight inner wheel well rubbing (nothing more).

A friend has a set of the 34x10.5 Swampers under his 40 and they look like they would be a better match for the 70 (to my eye). I would recommend looking at them too.

i have a 1971 fj40 & i have 31 x 10.50 x 15lt all-terrain b.f. Goodrich tires. Before i added a 2" shackle lift i had a problem with rubbing in the rear. Now i have no rubbing, even with the stock springs. Next i'm replacing my shocks with "rough country" & new 2 1/2" shackle lift with the stock springs. You might need to do the same as i did or maybe cut away the rear bottom panel(wheel frame). It all depends on what kind of terrain you will be running off-road on... Robert
p.s. I've owned mine since 1979 & took my drivers test in her in 1975...my dad was the original owner

Excellent! The truck will be here in a few weeks but don't want to lose out on them. Sounds like it should be easy to fix any problems. Wheels spacers might help in the short term and I have some sitting here.
