Twice in one week she leaves the lights on - during the day. I keep telling her that it has daytime running lights so don't bother, but of course she doesn't listen to me. :flipoff2:

Anyway - currently it's on the charger. It's the original battery and I wonder if two discharges so close together will kill it. Looking at some posts do the Optima's need rigging to get them to fit? Any alternates?

Thanks!

Why not just leave them on auto? Then you don't have to worry about it...

i am able to leave mine on any setting and they go off automatically anyway. not sure whats going on with yours.

Right. You open the door and they go out. Unless you turn them on AFTER your truck is off and the door is open.

Yes you can leave them on auto or even on "full on" - they go off automatically. She goes one click which is the parking lights which apparently will remain on even after leaving the vehicle

Haha, yeah, Moderator, please move this over to the "Hardcore Corner."

Convince her to use the auto. Definitely a headache saver. I had no idea that the parking lights acted differently than all of the other positions. Why's she riding around looking like a pimp anyways with the parking lights on?? :D

:grinpimp: I have to keep my Girls working....

j/k she had my daughter in the car and probably thought she would be safer.

so on the Optima's, if I go pick one up tonight at Sears will it drop right in? Some threads mentioned rerunning wires and I don't want to play mechanic tonight because American Idol is on (not really, just the only excuse I can come up with)

They should turn off automatically after a certain amount of time, even if you use the lights in manual mode.

I'd suggest looking for some other AGM battery that is a group 27R. That way it will slap right in and fit correctly. When you buy it, make sure the battery strap fits properly along what will be the front edge. Some have beveling or other features that keep the OEM strap from fitting properly.

AGM batteries can be drained dead hundreds of times without damage. Just charge them up and they're back in business. Be sure to check the specs on what you buy, but most are deep cycle and still put out very solid CCA.

Who makes AGM?

I beleive the odyssey is an AGM battery.

Yes, Odyssey and Optima both make AGM batteries.

I got mine from Batteries R Us Paid $179 with free shipping + $5 fuel surcharge about 6 moths ago.

PC1700MJT is the the perfect direct fit one. Might be able to stuff PC2250MJT if you want the biggest. PC1200 are a litte bit too small IMHO.

Augie - I called Odyssey and they said the 1700MJT would be too big - they didn't have a 27R listed. They said the 925MJT would be the direct fit, but I wanted something bigger and they said the 1200MJT would be biggest that would fit. Again, I don't think they had specifics for our vehicles so I'm very thankful for the info. Did you need wood for fitment?
