I'm new to the forum and would first like to introduce myself and my rig. My call name is Hayhead and I own a 1984 FJ 60 and a 1974 FJ 40. I have a question about the FJ 60. When you try and turn the A/C on (fan), only the lowest setting works and it makes the radio static. I have replaced the compressor, A/C clutch, and blower resistor. The A/C worked fine last year and started this problem overnight. Does anyone have any suggestions? The blue A/C button lights up, but the blower doesn't blow on any speed but low. The blower is getting power and the RPM is not effected by the A/C being turned on/off. Thanks for any help.

The blower motor does fail occasionally. May well the be problem with the radio static too.

The fan switch itself has resistors in it, and they burn out too. My 80 has the third speed (out of four) burned, and that fan speed is inoperative. All the others blow just fine, but I haven't gotten around replacing the switch yet. Replace the switch with a known good one and retest.

The 60 series have the blower resistors on the blower housing down near the drivers feet NOT in the switch.
