@TommyGuns , my brother, and I are running the shiels (ironside) and eureka route trail that is just outside on Boulder Saturday. The plan is leave Bozeman around 9 and meeting my brother in Boulder at 10:30 or so. The trail is in and out so we will drive the trail and find a camping spot somewhere on the way back out along Little Boulder Road. We will be meeting the group at the Gas station in Boulder at 9 on Sunday.

I'm putting this out there because others are welcome to join. The more the merrier. However, I have never done this trail. I have the guidebook, and a description of what to expect but there is some features on the Eureka route trail that might be a challenge. I can't offer advice as to what you need to do this trail but I have been told that the first part is easier. You could always park and jump in with someone if needed. I would love for someone that has done this to come or offer any advice/pointers/wisdom etc.

People could join us for camping out on Saturday night but since I have never been out there i can't offer more then we will be somewhere on Little Boulder Road, past where the pavement ends in the FS. Look for the two FJC's and the SAS Nissan. Cant say for sure how far back we will be but I want to be close enough to not be rushed to get to Boulder on Sunday. Also depends on how many people are out there.

@ttFJC where in Bozeman will you be meeting up Saturday morning? Sounds like it'll be a bit of an adventure!

We were just planning on grabbing groceries and then hitting the road. We can figure something out closer to Saturday depending on who all is interested.

I would recommend Eureka mine to experienced drivers, trucks with rear locker and sliders. And just a reminder that a CB is required. Easy to get one set up if you don't have one, but we do want to be able to communicate with everyone. This will be fun!!

Head's up: There is a new fire in the south hills of Helena. Mandatory evacuations in effect for Holmes Rd and Martinez Gulch.

We will want to keep an eye on this in the event it travels south toward Comet & Wickes.

@80 Sack

Its pretty far away, on private land and its pretty close to town and structures so it will get a lot of attention. I don't think its going to be a problem. About 20 miles away as the crow flies.

8 months of winter and 4 months of road construction and fires :bang:!!!!

Well UPS was supposed to deliver an antenna today but it never came and now the tracking says that it's returning to sender in Las Vegas so I don't have an antenna...

Going to try the flying J truck stop in Belgrade tomorrow hopefully they have one so I can join you this weekend. If only you could access CB frequencies with a HAM radio :bang:
