Why not a hot-rod build?

We build hot 2Fs for less than the prices listed in this thread. Definitely more power than a stock build, but there are flow limitations in the 2F head that make pursuing V8-level hp a pointless venture. UZ or LS will both scratch that itch, got 'em both sitting in the shop lot. I'm all for a chat, if nothing else to discuss details and what options exist. Sent you a DM.

I wonder what options would work for a manual behind an EROD in a 6x series rig.

Tremec TR4050 is probably the best option out of all of them. Also the most expensive

I spoke with Zach. It was one of the only informative phone conversations, with no pressure, just a friendly chat, and I felt like I was calling an old pal. He armed me with enough details to pursue, and we might do business together after that. I'm still in the camp of keeping it stock to 2F, so we'll go down that road together to explore the options and determine what makes sense for my style. My rig isn't desmogged as best as I can tell; I found one tube missing, but everything else seems intact; worst case, LS because of emission Californication, and I lived there for 30 years, can't shake it off to move on with my life.

OK, several vendors have hot-rod tractor engines. I recently spoke with a reputable restoration shop about my project and desire to hot-rod the 2F. I got the vibe that he didn't like the idea and only wanted to rebuild the engine and maybe add the H55F. I plan to switch the engine with a rebuilt hot rod, EFI, H55F transmission, headers, exhaust, and rehaul to make it somewhat highway-worthy to the extent possible without going the LS route.

I'm wondering why they hesitated and if I'm missing anything. What's going on here? Is it sacrilegious to consider the above, and why wouldn't a vendor support the decision? Is it a matter of preference? If I'm willing to spend the money, what difference does it make, or is this my paranoia reading into the conversation too much?

There is no going back at this point; money has been spent and is in the works. It will be what it will be; I'll deal with the repercussions and enjoy the discourse when it comes.
