What difference did you notice? was it dust, noise or wear?The cheaper ones are the economy version Toyota uses for their $199 (example) per axle brake specials whenever that used to occur or maybe it still does, not sure.
I would recommend using the slightly higher priced pads if you're able to. The cheaper ones will work but they're not as good as the more expensive ones from my experience.
