Rear brake pad pin location (3 Viewers)

guys, i did not notice the orientation of this notch in red on the rear brake pads.

Can someone tell me what this is. I got two new with the rear OEM pads. Where does it go, on the inner (towards the caliper piston) or outer and whether on the top of bottom.

It's a wear indicator, usually goes inboard, leading edge.

I assume u mean inside towards the piston and on the top. Why is mine pointing upward away from the pad? Isn’t it supposed to be towards the pad if it is a pad wear indicator?

Do u have pic of it installed correctly?

The guy who did the brake job did a terrible job. Broken brake pad retainers, both horse shoe shim installed on the rear driver side and other 2 passenger side!!! Doing it myself this time.

Quick google shows

As the pad wears that metal tab starts to rub on the rotor and lets you know it's time to change pads.

As funds allow I have been trying to baseline the LX I bought a few months back. In looking at the brakes, both front and rear the pads are OK, but the part of a shim kit that goes up against the caliper was not there when I took it all apart - both front and rear.

In the meantime I have ordered all the right parts to include new rotors, pads and shim kits. But while I wait for them to arrive I have one question I can't figure out from the various parts illustrations, threads I looked at here, etc.

How/where does the rear brake wear indicator mount? Asked as it is also something the...

This thread shows the correct tab. I dont think the above wear indicator is for a LC. This thread mentions his for a different purpose. Says it is at the bottom of the outer pad.

The new shims have the rubber backing attached vs the FSM that shows two on each side. Is it generally recommended to put grease on the side coming in contact with the piston? the FSM says no.

They're the same. The inner pad usually wears faster than the outer pad.
