I know it's a question may have been asked/answered millions of times. However, I'm trying to find a good reason or motivation for that on LC100/LX470.

So, my understanding is that it's pretty easy to accompany 33" on stock LC100/LX470 with minimum or no modification. However to get 35", significant effort may be needed, and so is the cost. If this is true, why still go for 35"? Other than cosmetic advantage, I knew one benefit is that the ground clearance is increased by 1" comparing to 33". Is there any other benefit I'm not aware of to justify the effort?

Longer footprint when aired down. Easier to roll over rocks/obstacles. Looks mean. Good selection of mud/AT tires.

Ride a folding bike with 20" offroad, then ride a mountain bike with 29" wheels over the same obstacles, you'll see it. It's not just the clearance, it's the leverage a larger tire has.

And I wouldn't say "significant effort". Just some trimming and bashing, most people are going to lift their rig anyways.

Technically no lift is needed. Mine is on stock AHC running 35" on Tundra wheels. @kreiten is also running 35" with AHC

My gut says that with 35s getting a regear also makes a lot of sense.
For a manual gearbox 100 series the extra rolling diameter would be a bonus as 5th gear is notoriously low.

It's a shame these trucks don't drive particularly well on the road with 35s or else I'd have some, but off-road there wouldn't be any disadvantages so long as you had enough body and frame clearances

Sadly I'm in a 4speed auto.

I'm getting 12.6mpg on the highway with my baby 33s, I have not recalibrated the speedo though.

Mine drives great on 35s. After regear I’m spinning about 150rpm higher than stock so it holds 5th up decent grades.

Having run a truck on 33" in all kinds of trail, I can tell you they were sufficient for almost everything I did. I am running 35" now because that's what came with the truck - my winter tires will most likely be not as tall.

33" put a lot less stress on the driveline than 35" and are far better for daily driving if you don't plan to re-gear to 4.88.

Was right on your "Story of the Blue", and thinking of my "story of the blue" :) . Also went through Kreiten's story of GoldieHahn.
Thanks for the 1st hand experience confirming 33 isn't bad at all. Yeah, think it makes more sense to me to stay with 33 for now until the day to try Rubicon:p. Still a lot to learn...

Thinking of driveline stress I'd take a wild guess and say that CV's are also going to be under more stress and maybe the weak link with 35s.

unless doing rubicon, 33s are plenty. I have done moab, been all over Wyoming, San Juan mountains and CO all on 33s. I for one would NOT do 35s on a stock gear ratio 4 speed 100.

Clearly Instagram is not a priority for you

295/75/16 is the sweet spot for 100's. plenty of tire with zero mods or spacers to fit them.

for what its worth, I'm currently on 35's haha. 4 speed trans but at least i'm on the 4 pinion diff. so maybe it wont explode as much.
