Looks A LOT like one I saw this summer in Port Moody...Very nice looking truck:clap:

After driving a mates fully empty hzj79 around again for a few hours the other day on and off road i thinking pushing that camper loaded up would be a PITA

Ya for people who want to get places fast it would be a slow rig - but for someone crossing the planet time is not usually an issue. For longevity and simplicity a bone stock 79 without turbo would be a great choice for traversing the planet.

what motor would you recommend then?

prob a 1fz 79 or 1hdfte 79

Ive had something that size on the back of my 75. The 1HZ pulls it around ok,you dont really want to go any faster than 110 under perfect conditions due to the top heavy nature of slide ons.
In winding, hilly conditions, your speed will be well within the range of a 1HZ.
A bit extra on the steep hills would be nice.

Globeriders Cape2Cape

Looks like its the Cape of Good Hope to Cape Horn in S America although their final destination will be Brazil.
They have only 6 -7 months to go

I lived in Norway a few hours from Cape North the most northern point on mainland europe. I spotted a good number of overlanders with south african plates on the them , and even the slogan Cape to Cape on the sides.

I only ever spotted one 70 series pickup with a camper body in the back, in Kirkenes. the vehicle itslef looked pretty shagged i think the front was leaning to one side. or that could have been me cos i only spotted it when i was coming out of the pub at silly oclock. next day it was gone.

going by the national flag stickers on the back of the truck in this thread the cape to cape slogan refers to Cape of Good Hope in Africa and the North Cape in Norway.
