WHoa! Positive battery terminal MELTED!

1995 T100 won't start at all. I noticed the positive terminal was friggin' melted! what is that from? that is a new one. replaced
battery and still NADA. next thing to try is replacing the starter, I guess.

Can anyone clue me in?

try in the tuck section. a 95 t100 and a 83 fj40 are very different machines.
 
Dead short to ground in the Positive cable?
Thats a lot of current flow if it melted the terminal.
 
Yup, sounds like a dead short. YOu will get absolutely NO power to anything if it is bad enough. Disconnect the batt. or run the risk of frying your computer.
 
weird. none of the fuses popped.

shouldn't they protect against this?
I don't know wiring so suppress the laughter.

battery disconnected already.

what's a dead short (looking it up now)?

I bet you have a rusted out frame ground and as such you are floating the current in the positive wires i.e. the current does not flow, it just heats up like a light bulb. Make sure your ground strap is new and has points of contact at the battery, frame and engine block/starter. That is the first place you look when there are major electrical issues. Often times the ground strap will rust and lose its ability to ground the system.
