So after a week of mostly 4WD because of ice and snow, and long warmup times before driving to work, my mileage was 9MPG. After filling up in Airway Heights and driving 165 miles to Leavenworth before filling up again, I did the math and got 17.4 MPG!! By far the highest mileage my rig has ever seen. Just thought I'd share :D

17.4!!??

Damn, that's pretty good.

Yes, I think so.
Using 4WD and long warm up reduce fuel mileage very much.
We have similiar weather condition with you nowdays.
From 1/Dec, temprature didn't go over 32F (0 C) even under bright daylight until now.
General temprature in midnight is -5F~0F.
Also with big snow...
So I must use 4WD almost of time with long warmup.
It reduces fuel mileage very much, I feel.

Oh, Min Seok

Best mileage I ever got in my 40 was in 4wd between Hawthorn and Tonopah. 1ft of snow 55 mph...

20mpg..

Shocked the @&@&@&@& out of me..

when you went the 165 miles was it flat? What speed?

Are you running stock tires?

About equal uphill and downhill, averaging about 65-67 MPH and on stock tires. I think it may have been a bit more uphill though because I think Leavenworth sits at a higher elevation than Airway Heights (where the base is).

If you learn to drive these tractors you can get some economy out of them. My best was about 15mpg. offroad, 10 or so. Normal city/freeway, about 13, maybe.

I'd love to get better, but it ain't gonna happen...

I routinely get 17 mpg out of my 83 FJ60, which has a fresh 2F engine, new distributor, smog pump, and carb, and it's perfectly tuned. I also run a h55f, with 31s aired to 40psi, and stay between 65 and 70mph on the highways. A couple of weeks ago, I drove 700 miles in a week on business, mostly highway, and I average 18mpg. The weather was perfect -minimal wind & dry roads.

driving speed makes a HUGE difference i found. I usually average 21mpg with 80% city driving and the other 20% 75-80mph on the interstate.

One weekend trip to URE (3-4 hrs away) i used under 3/4 of a tank of B20 total and i got 23mpg INCLUDING full day of wheeling in 4-lo! The difference was we were going 65-70 mph on the highway.

i never got over 10.
highway..mayber 12.

hardly ever get less than 20... on a good day it is more like 25 or 26.

Diesel, baby. Diesel.
