Were any of you guy in Papoose Flats/Mazourka Peak this weekend? I passed a convoy of immaculate 60-series and one JKU. Would love to check out some build threads.

That would be myself,Sheepdawg and John McVicker, all Mud members. We were doing a pre-run for our local 4x4 club (Eastern Sierra 4x4). The actual run will be June 17th. I remember you, thanks for pulling off trail so we could go by:). My build thread is in my signature line. Just click on it and enjoy. Thanks for the compliment. There are more pics of our run under the thread(what did you do with your 60 this weekend), page #279. Nice Jeep , by the way.

Yup. That's them. The only people I saw up there.

No problem. As you can tell from my signature and post count, I love a good Land Cruiser. It was rad to see really well built 60s still getting used, and even letting a Jeep come along with you. It was a beautiful weekend. I'm posting pics up on my instagram @BruceTheRubicon

Hope everyone sees the humor in what I'm about to say...I mean I was driving one of those 60's.

We had a great day, great secenery etc., and I also remember you pulling over for us, thanks. But it did not all end so well for those of us in the 'immaculate' 60's. We had no issues on the trail, but...when we were all back in 2mountainfish's driveway...this is what we found out:

A) 2mountainfish's 60: broken motor mount, noise & small damage to fan tips. Parts ordered.
B) my 60: a complete break in my A/C hard line. Complete loss of my 134. Parts ordered.
C) Sheepdawg's 60: front stabilizer being held by only one bolt and hanging down. In need of a carb rebuild. Parts ordered.

F) skip D & E because it's a JKU. Our friend Raul and his JK escaped w/o any damage. And yes, he has reminded us of this.

Btw, you do have a good looking Jeep. When I see a Jeep as I'm out wheeling, I often stop and with a big smile, ask the driver 'how'd you get that thing up here?'. Not this time tho...good looking Jeep.

Haha. Thanks John. I'm one of the few Jeep owners that had the luxury of owning Land Cruisers first. There's a lot of junk products in Jeep world. So I've tried to keep it "as stock as possible, and as modified as necessary" using only OEM, AEV and ARB parts.

Your story is exactly why I had to sell my cruisers and get this new Jeep. My wife got real sick of me ordering parts and wrenching for weeks after each outing. Hopefully, I'll get back into a Land Cruiser soon. I miss this community. I would have been impaled and strung up for posting a pic of an LC in a Jeep forum ;)

That's why they say there is a butt for every seat. I had my years of toyotas,Jeeps ,Broncos ect.. some were totally reliable, some not so much. Bottom line, I get bored with the same thing for too long, hence the the Landcruiser. Iv'e had it three years and it is still peaking my interest. Every time I take it out I consider it as, challenge accepted ,to get it home in one piece,LOL.

Well, I don't know about those other guys, but I got my 'immaculate' 60's (ha ha) A/C fixed and back on the road.

Got the broken hard line from She's Mad...NLA from Toyota, replaced the pipe, dryer and the expansion valve. Pulled vacuum and recharged with 134a.

Had to remove the evaporator from under the dash in order to get to the expansion valve and to remove the broken pipe. Wow, none of this was extremely difficult, but way time consuming.

^^^^^^^^
Still working on getting the motor mounts in. As it always goes, decided to get my driveshaft balanced after replacing the u-joints , and found out it was bent. Sourced another one and will find out tomorrow if it is straight. By Saturday I need to have motor mounts, driveshaft and locker done:eek: so that I can lead the run, that tore my motor mount. Is there anything remotely disturbing about any of this, LOL.

In reality those other 2 60's should be called immaculate. Mine is more of a Clydesdale.

Both of their's have been recently rebuilt, including their stock 2f's. My 2f on the other hand shows 315k on the clock and with the 33's I've run for the last 15 years it's probably closer to 350k. Knock on wood...the head has never been off. And I'm driving this one to SAS in Colorado in August. So, it a working Clydesdale for sure. And once we get Sheepdawg's carb tuned in he's taking that to the SAS.

And now I've got cold A/C again, yeah!
