Hehe...

I'm going to be placing an order for a 4x4labs rear bumper today or Monday in the kit form.

Since I don't have a welder (yet), or know how to weld (yet) I figure I might be able to round up some help with these:       ?

(just not so many that the swingouts wind up as swingins...)

Details for time and place for these festivities can be figured out once the kit arrives - anyone interested in helping me slap one of these together on my LX?

thats a definate possibility, Alvin. My gf's bro is in U of A down there so we could figure out stuff to do between drunkenly welding stuff to our hands.

LOL,

Of course in all seriousness, no drinking till the power tools are unplugged and the welder is off. Garage rules. Drinking with hand tools is acceptable at all times.

Let me know, I'll be happy to help.

haha, yeah thats cool. I don't drink beer anyways.

I'll keep you posted.

well it took a bunch of calls back and forth to finally get this bumper ordered - but it wouldn't have shipped til around now anyways as they were waiting for some spindles or something to have complete kits ready to ship.

I just got off the phone with Luke and ordered the bumper with dual swingouts, and he said something about leaving the tire carrier arm undrilled or something so I could place the tire wherever I wanted it since they're larger than average.

I got the ladder on the other side and ordered the dual gas can kit to attach to that.

Its supposed to ship tomorrow or Monday...

I'll build it! And I'm in PV.
There are a couple of things about beer that bear remembering;
A beer or two never made a smart man stupid. Nor has it ever made a fool smart. But too much beer can make a smool fart, or other words jumble. Don't drink enough to make a smool fart, especially when the power tools are plugged in!

So far the status is....

The friends of mud trucking discount shipping seems to have vanished right after payment was made.

The freight I paid up front to ship directly to my house was fine before I paid, but now is not enough.

Its also "maybe" not enough to ship to a business meaning ...well......nobody knows.

I paid in full......was told they'd ship that weekend.....and now....I just wait and wait and wait and get more delays and no stuff and lots of crying happens.

No more ordering and buying stuff for me.

I'm going to go dump about $100k in tools and make everything myself in my new 8 car garage.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Phil - rear bumper order "in stock and will ship in 2 days"......like 2 months ago.

Paid in full, paid shipping to my house direct quote, now I still don't have a bumper, don't know if it has shipped, don't know when it will ship, and don't know if they expect me to pay more money to ship.

($225 was good for some special shipping through a friend option before to my house, then I hear it might be about $600, and the amount I paid might not even get the kit to Kevin's shop. :( ....)

When you offer payment you get 8000 promises and guarantees, and then after that all the promises turn into "???'s".

So I'm still waiting in "who knows what the hell is going on limbo" here for my bumper kit delivery - hopefully I hear something positive soon.

In the meantime, I'm buying a huge house with an 8 car garage/workshop and all the tools I can fit in it and I'm going to start designing and fabbing up my own stuff - so when I want something, I can just go make it.

Is this what has had your bile up?

What is the shipping issue? Sounds like you were quoted too low a price. Who is the shipper? Try to get the money from the shipping and just try and get it FedEx ground shipped. I don't know if they will do something so heavy though.

When we did our buy, one of the ways we save money was on shipping. It was all on one pallet shipped to Kevin's shop. I think it cost me about $100 plus gas to Phoenix. I would guess that it would be two or three times that any way else.

Been there, done that, and got my money back.....

Good idea, then you only have one person to blame. Can I come over and play after you get the new place set up [:grinpimp:

Yes....this is the bumper order that had me all bent out of shape, and why I was getting impatient about the sliders GB.

When I was ordering, I asked if I just pay a deposit and then the balance later, and was told "no no, don't worry. We have these kits in stock, ready to ship - 100% complete, so we can just collect the payment in full and these will ship out in 2 days."

I asked for direct shipping to my house (residential delivery) and was told Id get a call back. I got the call back and was given the total due with shipping to my house.

Since then - instant shipping through some friend of theirs with a freight truck heading to AZ just seemed to vanish. Then 3" of snow on the ground apparently meant no trucks or shipping companies could get to them.

(but a phone call to them ended up with them saying if I pay about 3x the shipping quote, I just missed last weeks truck but could get on this weeks truck..........I thought there were no trucks?)

All I know for sure is that the kit is supposed to be strapped to a pallet, and I have no idea if Fed Ex or UPS or any of those companies do that type of shipping. I've never ordered something that had to ship on a pallet before.

$600 for shipping   ? IPOR quoted me $100-$150, depends on what is added to the rear bumper, to ship from east coast to my zip. I have been thinking about 4x4labs bumper, but $600 shipping turns me off for sure.

1) always ship big heavy stuff to a commercial address. You must know someone in the area who would let you ship to their shop. Shipping companies much prefer commercial addresses.

2) $600 for shipping!!! He's F-ing crazy. I ship and receive crap to and from all over the country. I can ship 2000 lbs to LA for $150 on FedEx. Thats my corporate rate of course. $600 for 200lbs from Grass Valley is way inflated. Sorry you're having trouble.

I thought you were moving in there last summer?

No, the house I was buying with the giant roll up doors got snatched away literally an hour before we were to meet to sign and submit the paperwork. We got a voicemail at 4 telling us to just cancel our appointment because the realtor found out the house is now in escrow. (d'oh!)

So now we found a bigger, newer house with full mature landscaping....

As far as the shipping issue - something is definately not right there at all.
