Who is the OEM windshield supplier?

First off PPG is now PGW and they are an OEM manufacturer as well as Pilkington . Pilk manufactures glass for GM,FORD, JAG, Mercedez, BMW, PGW has a deal with chrysler,GM and some others.

The Toyota /Lexus branded parts would be the OEM . Having a dealer install the part is a big issue with me becasue unless its a BMW dealer most dealers out source to us ( an auto glass shop) then the charge you the mark up for our services.

Asahi is the OEM maker for Toyota/Lexus (and I think, Honda) glass. The OEM 100 windshields are shipped over from Japan.

As Jim_Chow said, Asahimas is the exclusive OEM vendor on Japanese Toyota's. Since they do not sell to 3rd parties, no other glass company can say they are the OEM glass for Toyotas (especially Japanese produced models).

Contrary to what other glass companies and their reps may say, there is a HUGE difference in the quality of automotive glass. Most companies only manufacture their products to DOT standards. The durability and optical clarity of Asahimas' glass is superior to most.
