Dave, do you have this? Quite a few people are having this and I'd like to throw a housing on your truck to see if it does resolve this if indeed you have this problem.

Yep, and it's annoying as hell!!
It seems to really happen on mine when the weather warms up.
Running 93 octane makes it go away, but at $3.25 a gallon, who's
gonna do that?? :D

It is tuned up, and timing set at stock.

well if it's happening this weekend and you have time I'd like to plug it in and see what happens. It's supposed to heat up tomorrow.

Oh, it'll be happening, I'm just not sure I can get up to
the North Shore this weekend.

Are you travelling for work during the week?
Any where near me?

If not, I'll figure out and get up you way somehow.

I'm interested to see the outcome of this. I also have pinging especially when warmer. Hope it helps.

Dave, where do you live? I'm sure you told me but I can't remember.

I can always pull the housing from my truck and meet you somewhere so it would be easier. It takes about 10 minutes to install and then a little driving to allow the ECM to adjust to it.

The complete opposite end of the MA world from you :D
I'm in Norton, down by Foxboro/Mansfield.

The proverbial MASSHOLE of the state :flipoff2:

Actually meeting at the Burlington mall might be about half way. Up and back with testing might only take 2 hours out of our day.

Yeah, Yeah, I'm moving up to the bladder
though, sold my house and I'll be in Watertown by 8/1. :D

Burlington Mall sounds fine to me.
Sunday AM? (I can't do Saturday)

I have the stock MAF. My idol is pretty rock solid. But i do have the pinging off idol as well. I have run high octane gas and it has almost eliminated this, but not completely. What i have done to try to resolve this "pinging" other than high octane gas is to remove and clean the throttle body, new intake and air filter, new fuel filter, denso iridium plugs, new OEM plug wires, cap/rotor, new O2 sensors, and the....can't remember the brand now, but a product you suck through your PCV and it is supposed to clean carbon deposits.

Nothing but more expensive gas has helped.

Yup Im also running new improved (landtank) MAF sensor with JDM cold air induction here...:grinpimp:

Rick told me you have one. Has it past the test yet?;p

What's a JDM cold air induction?

I'm curious if this has helped those with the intermittent idle-stumble or the off idle pinging.

Stumble is gone, engine runs very smooth.

But what about the off idle pinging  :D

Landtank met me in a parking lot yesterday
(it was like a MUD geek drug deal :D) and graciously installed
his own MAF sensor in my truck, to get some more feedback.
I specifically was interested in the off idle pinging, as I don't have the stumble.

I drove around a lot yesterday in mixed situations, idling in traffic, highway,
backroads, etc. My truck is stock, 160,000 miles with 285's on it.

So far, I've noticed a smoother idle, but it hasn't seemed to help the off idle ping.
(Rick didn't claim it would, it was more curiousity)

It seems to have a bit more pep in the lower range, but it seems
like it holds each gear a bit longer, almost like OD is off. The shift
points seem a bit smoother as well.

I'll post more findings as I find them.

Thanks again Rick!!

good info David. Thanks for sharing.

Try the power button. Seems like it has a little more pep in power mode too.

Out of curiosity...
Do you guys reset ECU after the swap?

Nice Job! As far as the stumble goes I think everyone that had it now doesn't.

Like most of my stuff I order them in batches with some of them pre paid. There ias another batch coming in and they are all sold. The last batch needed a little rework so I haven't posted on availability until I get a batch in that are perfect out of the box. This batch should be that so I'll post info afterwards.

So is there some sort of notification list? I just don't have the time to check the forums as much as I'd like anymore...
