discussing it with my better half ... if I can talk my mother in law into watchimg the kids..we may go...anyone gone before??? and what is it like???

I have been. It is fun, but I dont think that you feel the cruiser love as much on a trip like this(one with a base camp) as you do on a trail trip(one where you camp out every night at a different point along the trail(Rubithon). I have heard that there will be a wagon(fj80) run this year for rubicon, if they can get enuff trucks to show. I did Moab and then rubithon, if i was to do it agin i would of done the rubicon frist.

I totally want to go. Is it like SNT where you get to bust out beers and play?

I should have my sliders on by then, but no lift. Anything I would be left out of?
I could still do most of it eh?

would love to rally up and camp on the way out there with some of you guys if possible. Is the campground at Moab a zoo? or should I get a room one night for the wifey and me as a backup?

I am thinking about it but am not committed as of yet. I will have to see how things with work are closer to that time.

I have the same questions as pablovta about the campground? Is it a comfortable place to camp out at? Do you have to get there by a certain day to be guaranteed a spot? trailer access?

thanks

One event i need to do while i still can.

Discussed it with the wife 2 months ago but the problem is with the kids still in school at that time . Seems like she will approve but 40/60 not going.

Curious to know who are interested.

I took my girlfriend in 2005, it was our first organized Toyota event and she is hooked!

BTW - stock 80 with 285's, took off the runningboards, mudflaps, rear bumper covers and put the spare inside. People were amazed with the truck (I don't take bypasses ;) )

Went again last year and still had a blast. Even though I missed a day of trails, had a nice visit to the hospital and spent 3 days in bed. Don't ask

I plan to go again this year, but my girlfriend is getting sick of spending her birthday driving to Utah every year. I may need to get a new copilot.

I would love to coordinate trails with anyone interested.

Whats up guys.
I am definitely interested. I finally got my 80 and wanna see how it does (stock). Any idea the time frame? Is this a good first run for the family?

It can be. . .

How much experience do you have as a driver?
Look over these trail descriptions carefully to get a sense of what is available. I suggest the more scenic and less technical for the family; but I have seen happy spectators of all ages on 4+ trails as well.

The event staff are fantastic, they make sure everyone gets as much or as little assistance as needed.

With a bone stock 80, I recommend trails rated 3 or less. You could probably handle 3 1/2 and 4 but the likelyhood for damage increases significantly.

The event runs May 2nd to 6th here's more info.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

I definately want to go but have to work out the logistics before deciding for sure. The biggest problem is working out how to get my rig there as I'm pretty much unwilling to drive there. I'll end up borrowing a truck and trailer or towing it with a motorhome.

It does sound fun, but probably won't ever get on my calendar until I'm either out of scouting or get a third week of vacation. I'm at least 3 years from both! :crybaby: :D all depending!

Moab's too far and long of a trip for me unfortunately....BUT I am planning to hopefully do the Rubicon again. I'll start a new thread for those interested.

I am driving out to Moab in a group of 4 80s and camping along the way would be cool......

come-on Sam, its only a couple hours farther than the rubicon...you should do both!
