I guess its time to start enjoyng the landcruiser now that the weather is finally turning warm! Drove mine to work today. Mine is topless, and this warm day is ideal for a cruise.

I havent enjoyed it since driving it home last fall.. That weekend was the very last warm weekend of the year. Been in the garage mostly since then... ocaational short rides here and there but thats it.

I was wondering if there are any others on this forum who live very close to me. I am in Plano, at the Dallas North tollway and spring creek parkway area. Would love to drive mine by to chat and talk truck, or meet up.

AND..... I also (by coincidence) own a great second home in Clayton OK.... its a llog cabin home situated across the street from the state park on Rt 2, about 5 miles north of Clayton proper....Sardis Acres actually. Near Shorties.. Some of you might have been there before

I go up to the cabin nearly every weekend. Albiet I leave the landcruiser here in Plano when I head up. One of these days Ill traller it up for the weekend.

Anyone go to Clayton regulary? I have owned this place for 7 years and have yet to EVER go off roading there. I would like to meet a local fellow Cruiser to show me around up there sometime.. I dont intend to bash this truck on trrails. too nice for that.. just looking for nice cruisiing roads and or small mud..

going up again tonight. anyone on the forum ever want to drop by, shoot the bull on trucks, have a brewskie by the campfire and enjoy the view of the lake let me know when you will be around

As for wheeling on the mountain... It probably isnt a place that it sounds you want to take that truck, I dont know of any good roads up there for you as when the group I usually go with goes we hit the mountain and wheel. But we are in rail only rigs that are built for that purpose.

I have a friend of mine that has some land up there someplace, his name is Troy, I will have to ask him if he knows of anything else.

I'm in the area but mine needs some repairs after my wheeling it at the Round Up. Too dangerous to drive it with steering issues..

I'm in north Richardson, near George bush and Custer. I keep my 40 in a thousand pieces near Wylie.

I'm game for a few brews and talking shop. Set something up. I'll attend if schedule permits.

Hi, We live in Plano. We have a 1979 and 1982 fj40. Mike

McKinney here. Check out K-Trail while you're up there sometime. The worst damage you might encounter is some trail pinstriping. I've heard stories about cranky locals guarding their meth labs when you get far enough out, but I've never had an issue. You can get on that trail by your cabin and head all the way to Arkansas on it. The guys on Expedition Portal go quite a bit.

No 40, but in Plano

I just got transferred from Jax, FL to the Dallas area a couple of weeks ago and I'm in Plano area. I have a 69 FJ55 that will be getting some much needed love now that I actually have a garage, and I have an FJ62 still back in Florida that my mechanic buddy is swapping in a H55 as he gets time at the Lincoln dealership where he works. I'm up for getting together for a round or two of beers in the Plano area. If nothing else, I'll see ya guys at Pappa's at the meeting next month if I can make it.

I am in Columbus, Georgia...but my hardtop and front/rear doors are in McKinney.

I'm next door in Allen, but I work in Plano - I have a red 76 FJ40 - wouldn't mind meeting up sometime. I'm haven't made it to any of the meetings, not sure I really want to drive the 40 all the way down to NW hwy!

  • Need to get a more recent pic, but it's under a car cover right now. Currently it has alloys w/32" MTRs and a warn/Belleview winch up front - the ill fitting fiberglass hood has been replaced with an early steel hood with the chrome spear (yeah I like chrome!). Here it it's right after I got it - next to my sons 76 bronco. It's a 4 speed, Chevy 350 - just swapped the leaky 2 bbl carb for a like new quadrajet and spread bore manifold - but I've gotta pull the intake back off - totally forgot the guy I bought the intake from had pulled the crossover heat shield off the bottom - found it in the box when I was cleaning out - after that, is seat cover replacement. Hopefully an ameture paint job this spring/summer.

solid man! you going to lone star jambo???

Definitely going to try to make it! How about you? I haven't been out to Barnwell in a couple years - I used to be really active in Texas rovers and helped run the South Central Area Rover Rally for several years out there but quit going when I sold my RRC (which is back on sale on Craigslist again for the third time in a couple years - it just keeps getting passed around (why am I suprised the hood is up in one pic!)

I even helped build the pavilion at camp Mabey years ago.

If I go, I'll probably either trailer ithe 40 or flat tow it out there.
