I recently installed an RTT and a 270 awning on my LX570? When driving, if I let off the gas between 50-60 MPH, I could hear and feel a distinct whine. It felt like it was from the steering column, but it could have been from the AHC. I recently took the awning and tent off to store for the winter, and the whine went away. Has anyone experienced something similar? The AHC has all of the original globes. They have been inspected several times, but they still appear to be in good condition. I have 188k miles on the rig. TIA.

Yes, Roof Racks and Tents are notoriously loud, hence why I removed mine a week after getting truck, and it’s noticeably quieter

I’ll bet Tacos it’s wind noise

Definitely not the wind noise (though, yes, it is much noisier in general with the racks on). This noise was clearly coming from the front end, and I could feel it in the steering when I would hear the noise.

Not the most popular thread … but I have now removed the tent and awning from the car. The whine has come back. Again, I hear it most when decelerating between 50-60. Very strange.

Stock roof rack or aftermarket?
