While you guys were in Borrego, I was in Ocotillo almost rolling the cruiser. Here are some pics and really bummed my buddies didn't pull out a camera when I was sideways on a hill climb.
First Pic: Rolled out there with 6 adults and pulling a 24' pop-up

Unfortunately my first tow was a fellow Toyota

Here is the cruza up on Superstition, Very pleased with how it did on the sand. 285/75 MT's aired down to 20 psi and the Blue Angels practicing overhead.

Oh and found a baby Diamond back under the camper, thank God my dumb dog didn't find it before me!!!!

And now for the carnage, guess I won't be selling this bumper later on.

And lastly a bent antena, I had it half way up to listen to SIRIUS satelite radio and thought it would be strong enough to take a hit doubled up. But apparently not. Fortunately I was able to bend it back.

That sucks on the antenna. Bumper, oh well, I am on my third!

Eh, I was able to bend the antenna back and it still works. I haven't tried to take it all the way down yet because I don't want it to get stuck down. Plus I will take a bent antenna over rolling the cruiser anyday!

Snakes!!!

Thats why I prefer to sleep inside the Cruiser.

Youre not lifted yet are you?

I bent my antenna the same way trying to listen to XM radio. That satellite radio is hard to let go of.

That little serpent you have in the cerveza container just caused Ocotillo Wells to get crossed off of my "places to wheel" list. I am OK with snakes, but rattlesnakes are my nemesis.

Best phrase from any of the Indiana Jones movies

I HATE SNAKES!

and so do I.

Nope, not lifted. One day I will have the FOR lift but sliders will be first.

Yeah, I was shocked to have seen it especially with the temps out there. Everyone at camp said that this was there first siting of a rattler in tons of visits!

And yeah, satellite is the only way to go off road.

I don't know what setup you guys have but I have a small dome shaped XM antenna and drive with my FM antenna down all the way all of the time. For just that reason. Curious why you need to have it up to get Sat reception.

Yeah, ya know I didn't seem to loose any reception when I put it halfway down. I just didn't bother to go all the way because I was focused on doubleing it up and figured it wouldn't work all the way down. But today on my drive home I was seeing if it was working OK since I bent it back and I took it to about 6" up and the reception still worked fine. I think I will be putting it down all the way when off-roading from now on!!!

You should have the dome shaped magnetic antenna with the XM/Sirus and that is the only reception it needs. It is not tied in with the FM antenna at all. :D

I have the portable xm receiver that is roughly the size of a digital camera. I think it is called the "roady 2". I don't get good reception with the tiny, dome shaped antenna (attached to the receiver) it comes with so I try to do anything possible to improve the sound quality. I see your point about the FM antenna not having anything to do with the xm reception.

My dad, who has the xm in his head unit in the dash, gets great reception everywhere so I think I will probably get an XM equipped head unit in the near future.

Yeah, I have the magnetic antenna that came with the receiver but I need the regular antenna to get the signal on the 98.1 ,2, or 3 station it transfers into my vehicle with. In my previous vehicle I had to always change stations to get better signal. With the cruiser I never have, maybe that because I don't have an after market billet antenna on this ride.

Sorry, brain fart on my part. I have the XM ready head unit and totally forgot about the fact that the others use the FM signal. I know I can't give it up for long either. I almost freak if I lose it momentarily in a narrow deep wash.

Damn the Snake Hate!!!!!

Very cool pics Mike. Is that second one a pair doing thier mating dance? I blasted past a mating pair doing thier thing on my mountain bike. I only missed them by two feet or so. In the flash as I rode by I thought it was one snake striking at my leg and prepared for the pain and hospital trip. Luckily when I stopped and turned around I realized what they were doing. Really cool thing to see in person. They must have been heavy into it as I didn't seem to notice I had almost hit them. :grinpimp:

They are beatiful creatures no matter what these wusses say. :flipoff2:

Indeed. Initially mis-identified and termed "lieb spiel" (~love dance?) it is actually two males attempting to assert dominance. Pretty much comes down to who is bigger and who has more endurance. Very cool to catch in person, this was the only time I'd ever caught it. The other two had just emerged from their winter den and were still covered in dust on the first warm day of the spring.

Important to note that nearly all bites are to white males age 18-35 and on the hand...

Thanks for the info, I guess it was two males then. That was the only time I have ever seen that, one of those things that you have to see in person to truly appreciate. I have had to bunny hop a few sunning themselves on the trail though. :)
