Hi , I am looking to buy some new tires for my RJ77 which has the same basic suspension and body as the Prado. My question is will 235X85-16 fit on the narrow stock steel rims I have. Is there a rule of thumb for the width of the rim compared to the width of tire?

Also will I have any steeering issues like rubbing with the totally stock setup I have, because the rims keep everything in quite tight rather than pushing the tires towards the outside?

235s will fit yur narrow rims without a problem. The rule of thumb for the ideal ratio would be +/- 1.5 tire width for 1 rim width.
Those will fit with moderate, if any, rubbing and are a great size for 70 series IMO.

Thanks for the info Denis
I really like the taller tire for the roads around here. Hope to get them on this week

more variation in width for 33" tyres would be good. They really only seem to come in 12.5" wide, which is quite wide for that diameter. A 33x11.5 would be ideal.
