Which tire is larger/wider

Anyone good in Metrics ;-) Which tire is taller/wider...the 315/75R16 compared to the 35X12.50 R17....anyone please?

It depends on the manufacturer and tire as to which is taller/wider since a 317/75/16 is about the same size as a 35x12.50R17 in width and overall height. Go to the manufactures site and compare. They should have all the specs you need.
 
As Darwood said, it varys by manufacturer, but personally, I would consider these the same as far as width is concerned.

315 divided by 25.4 (the number of millimeters in an inch) = 12.40 inches.
 
Metrics are for foreigners (not that theres anything wrong with that) I'll stick to inches :D
 
Metric tire size is kinda a misnomer, since one of the numbers is metric (mm), another is a percentage, and the last number is in standard units (inches). It doesn't get more bastardized than that!
