Just curious if any of you guys have an opinion or experience with the ms2 or AT tire from Michelin. Not sure if I want to go a little more aggressive and lift it a tad, or keep stock at the moment. My 100 is a 2006. I plan on going a little bigger than stock even without the lift. If I keep stock, I'm going with 265/65/R18.

I have Toyo AT's. After 60K, tire store manager thinks I should get another 30-40K out of them.

I've had experience with Michelin AT's on 3 company-provided Suburbans in the past. Tread life 80K with rotation every 5K. Great in Texas rain deluges, no issues in Idaho snow or fire roads. No experience with the Michelin MS, but probably better, all things considered, if most of the driving is on paved roads. AT's were definitely quiet tires.

Michelin AT/2's are gravel magnets, if you drive on a ton of gravel roads. I put a set on my daughter's 4Runner, and she now drives a few miles of gravel road every day for work. Great tires, will last a long time, they just fling gravel like crazy. That's my only knock on them. Even the price isn't bad, considering the mileage.

Live in Colorado- LTX M/S, - Stock handling tire, does well on the ice and snow. I have not taken it offroad other than dirt roads and campsites. I have others with the BFG AT's (*80 and 40) and they are great for the rocks but suck in the mud. I would go Toyo/Nitto for the multiuse.

I went through this about a month ago. Was on the fence with the same tires you're looking at and ended up going with the M/S2. I loved the look of the A/T, but at the end of the day, I'm on paved roads most of the time. If you truly need an A/T, I say look at the BFG KO otherwise the M/S2 is a fantastic choice. I went with the 275/65/18 (32") which looks great on a stock ride height truck.

More food for thought, another member of the board was considering the same tires, he bought the A/T, but ended up swapping them for the M/S2 because they were a bit noisier than he liked.

Running the Michelin A/T2 (load range E) on both my 100's. Used the M/S on the 80-series early on. All good tires if your off-road activities are not very extreme.

For lots of highway, hunting and fishing trips and the random snow and ice we get in Northern Texas, I'm sold on the A/T2.

I’ve had both the LTX AT2 and the LTX MS2 on my ’04. I ran the AT2 for about 40,000 miles and sold them at 6 years old with well over half the tread left. They were nice tires, quiet for an AT, excellent in sand, smooth on the highway. I switched to MS2 and found they are quieter, better handling, and more comfortable, and just as smooth compared to the AT2. I have not yet had the MS2 in the snow, but I was never impressed with the AT2; they were just average in snow. The MS2 are as good in deep sand. waited until the MS2 had about 5000 miles on them before judging any differences, because new tires are almost always nicer than old tires. Neither tire caused me any trouble at all so far, with the usual Michelin roundness, ease of balance, and no slow leaks. I’m looking forward to 10s of thousands of miles from the MS2 and will once again probably sell them due to age rather than treadwear. Both sets of tires were (are) the P metric and not the E rated LT.

Still loving these tires

I've run the Toyo MTR's and liked them but the road noise and MPG hit was not really worth the marginal advantage in off road performance. That said they looked really cool on my truck if you are into that.
I'd stay away from Bf Goodrich tires, they have not done well for me in recent years on other trucks.

I had M/S on my 2002 AWD Astro Van, installed at 70k miles. I sold the van with 130k miles and they looked like they might have been half way worn down, maybe. I live in Flagstaff AZ where in 2009/2010 we had a couple storms with several feet of snow, the van handled all of it. I traveled the country in all types of weather with those tires, always confident. The van was unstoppable in snow. I swear by those tires if you aren't going off road. They were the best tires I ever owned.

What size were the MS2s that you ran?
Thanks

I'm going to install Copper Discover AT3's on my truck next year. I run this tire on my LR Discovery and it is a great tire. I'n my opinion the best of both worlds. They're very quite on the road (which I'm not sure how they do this with the fairly aggressive tread pattern), and on the AT side they work great in snow and trails. And finally they sell at a great price of $160.00 per tire.

Those MS/2's got some pretty bad reviews on tirerack if you read through them.

I'm also shopping for new tires and will probably end up with Goodyear A/T Adventures. Might be a little more noise but makes up for it with winter performance.

They are rated #1 on tirerack and that is based on the average of the reviews. All the reviews I read except for a couple of strange ones were great. I bought the OEM MicHelin Latitudes because they were the OEM tires and my LX is under warranty, these should need changing when my warranty is up then I will go more aggressive. Two reasons I did not get the MS2's, did not come in OEM size and I was afraid it could affect my warranty and I was afraid if I got them they would never wear out and I would not be able to get a more aggressive tire in 40k miles when my warranty was up. Made sense to me

The MS/2's are exceptional. Very, very happy with them, but only have 6K miles on them so far. I was the forum member mentioned above that started with the purchase of AT/2's. The AT/2's looked the part - very rugged, but way too noisy for me. Everyone seems to say that the AT/2's are quiet, but I think that is relative to other AT tires. I couldn't take the droning just driving in and out of my neighborhood with the windows down. Even worse on the highway.

I called Michelin and they were actually quite helpful. After discussing my needs, they said a Mud and Snow tire (MS) was a better fit and they would do a free exchange. Rides very smooth and quiet. Took it off road in 12 inches of fresh snow over Thanksgiving in the Adirondack Peaks of NY and it was like driving on pavement. No issues whatsoever. Can't recommend this tire enough. Mine are 275/65 R18.

M/S will last 2x longer than A/T on a Michelin. I have seen MS with over 100k miles. AT lucky to get 40k.

Then I need to go out the garage and tell my tires they were done 20k miles ago. I've got 60k on a set of A/T2's and lots of tread left. 20k to 30k more easily.....

Noise is relative, and again, I've had both Michelins mentioned (M/S and A/T). I find the A/T2 to be quiet and never have had a passenger make comment.

As for the Latitudes, I put them on the LX at first. They didn't last long at all. Wouldn't do that again...
