Remember the Alamo!
Well I'm about to change my oil for the first time. I purchased my fzj80 last month, and after reading many threads on weight and brands of oil I would like to get an idea of what others who actually live in this area are using.

I'm in San Antonio.
Thanks,

Amsoil in all my vehicles, except the 40, but it's a trail rig.

Valvoline 20w50 in my 40

I run the Rotella t-syn 15W-50 in mine, the Mobil Delvac 1 is about the equivalent if you can find it. Strong words of caution, if you put 10W-30 synthetic in high mileage vehicle your chance of developing a leak somewhere is pretty high. 1FZs like thicker oil, I would go with 10W-40 at a minimum if you have to go with Mobil 1.

I run non-synthetic Rotella/Delvac/Chevron Delo 10W-40 in the 2F/3F, you don't want to run synthetic in an engine that burns oil ;)

Yeah, on an older vehicle, I would run a diesel synthetic like Rotella. The Rotella and Delvac both have seal swell agents.

What Tucker said. Don't use low viscosity synthetic in your 1FZ unless you're prepared for leakage.

Shell Rotella 15W40 in the 2F, or the Chevron/Delvac equivalents.

FYI, Chevron's new Delo 400 LE has similar lubrication effectiveness as synthetics according to independant lab tests. It's available in 15W40 weight. Costco sells it--$33 for a 3 gallon case.

I just run regular Castrol 10w-30 mostly, maybe the occasional 10w-40. Never had a problem yet.

Mobil 1 10w-30 in wife's Camry.
Delo 400 or Rotella 15w-40 in my Cummins.
Valvoline 10w-30 dino oil in my trail junk.

Amsoil Series 2000 75w-140 in my tow truck diffs.

20-50 in my fj40 upon the recommendation of so many...on the forum.
I used to have 10w30 in there. After I put the 20-50 in there, my oil pressure gauge spike up past high when the engine is running. But if you just turn the key without starting, it sits at mid level. Strange.

I may go back to 10w30 for the fj40.

I used mobil 1 synthetic for the 100 series and the 4 runner.
