The 100 is a nice capable machine, no doubt here. The 200 is just so far improved in the drive train, front suspension, and sway bar systems, that it is hard to recommend the 100 over it.
which is more capable offroad the 100 or the 200 vs lx?

I've had both, similarly set up other than an ARB locker in the front of the 100. 200 is much better in my opinion with the exception of the pucker factor since I didn't mind banging up the 100, and still try to keep the 200 out of harms way.
Biggest difference is the front suspension and actually having some travel. 100's like to 3 wheel. They are still awesome trucks and I miss mine a lot, but given equal setup and the same driver, that driver will do better in a 200 than a 100 imho.

I would say in pure showroom stock form, that the extra ground clearance advantage the LX air suspensions is capable of giving you would make it the winner, not to mention the extra cameras. But those painted lighted running boards are much easier to damage and cost a whole lot more then the ones on the LC. If talking modified I would say the LC is the winner.
If on road comes in play at all. I like the way the LC handles much better then the LX. I found that with the LX I was always playing with the comfort mode switch, depending on the road conditions and speeds I was traveling, the LC seems to have a happy medium that I never could find in any of the LX's 3 comfort modes. The LX always seemed either to firm or too loose.

This is GREAT stuff guys! But what about size? I know my 100 is large and I'm used to that (in fact I used to off-road an F350 Crewcab!!), but how much larger does the 200 feel on the trail?
Heck, for that matter, even on the road in small parking lots?? Or Laguna Beach? Pacific Coast Highway going through Laguna Beach can be pretty snug sometimes in the summer with lots of traffic, tourists, etc.Thank you all for your input!
The size differece in the two rigs is a non issue(IMO) The 200 actually drives a bit smaller as far as feel goes! As far as offroading goes, they feel about the same, proly because they pretty much are the same size... The 200 is about an inch wider than the 100, so to crunch the numbers for ya that's just over a 1% increase in size, you'd need lazer beams to notice it
I think the length grew a couple inches also, a non factor! As stated above the increase in wheel travel in the front end alone is a huge game changer, then throw in Crawl, turn assist, camera's and it's a no brainer, the 200 is simple the 100 version 2.0, it's just better! just my 2 cents!

So Kreiten, as a person who's had a 100 and now in a 200, this is really good dope.
Q: what kind of off roading do you do? Being in Washington? I'm assuming it to be in your local mountains/forests which can be kind of tight at times, at least that's what it can be like down here in So. Cal. in our local mountains. Or are you just doing fire roads and trails that require little or no suspension articulation and not needing front/rear lockers?
The locker thing is another issue also. If I add front and rear lockers to a 200 do I lose the Crawl and all the other electro-gizmo trail controls?
Both my wife and I have 98 LC's with the factory e-lockers. I've added a TJM front air locker to mine and do use it on occasion. I really like being able to lock the front and rear when necessary.
we do all kinds of offroading, Jeep trails, fire roads, deserts, ocean beaches etc etc etc

Can't answer for Kreiten, but most of my stuff is forest roads in the SE which can also be tight and definitely has areas you need articulation. Size feels about the same. The extra power makes the 200 feel smaller on the road. Off road I can't really tell the size difference, and thought I would notice... you'll be surprised. My 100 was a 98 which is why I locked the front, and it makes a huge difference on those trucks without ATRAC. With the ATRAC like functions in the 200, along with crawl, I'm not convinced yet that I need lockers. I also don't think lockers would impede use of crawl or ATRAC unless you turned the lockers on. One or the other.
This is spot on right here! I posted a couple pics above to give you an idea of the kind of wheelin I do.
The ATRAC and crawl control proly don't replace lockers fully, but they do a pretty damn good job!

That's some pretty sick porn kreiten! I had to cover my eyes and peek between my fingers!!
You (or anyone else) wouldn't happen to know for sure about lockers working with the on-board ATRAC and Crawl (not sure if it's the same thing or two different "buttons")
Also, I've regeared the diff's and the transfer case. I'm sure one can regear the diff's but does the Marlin Crawler gear set work for the 200 transfer case also?? I may have to call Marlin on that...
Slee has a locker in the rear of his 200. Give him a call and pick his brain.

The factory e-locker can be retrofitted, there are several aftermarket options including ARB.
Gears are factory 4.10, 4.30 (w/ 32 spline pinion) or after market 4.30 4.88 (w/ 29 spline). Lockers don't bother Atrac, have yet to try crawl with it, but that will happen soon.
The transfer case is a totally new and different design, no gears for it, yet.

Looking at Kreiten's pictures makes me want to get the LX out and see what it can do off-road, here in Idaho!
So far, we have taken it onto muddy fire roads, while trailering a ~5300lb travel trailer and I have to say that the LX's suspension was superb on the very potholed road we were on! It traveled the roads so much easier than my lifted 100. The 100 with the OME heavy lift is very stiff. Later this summer / next Fall I will try and hit some trails south of Boise in BLM areas that provide us with more seat gripping action. I am also looking forward to trying out the cameras on climbs and in some tight spots.
Sorry to not be able to add much more to the conversation, other than to say that I am willing to give the LX a try on some trails and get back with you.
