I'm picking up an LX and will need to get crossbars. I will not need them to support much weight -- just the holder for my surf rods in the summer and again for a xmas tree in the Winter. In between I'll want to remove the crossbars. So they don't need to be strong. Quiet would be good. Relatively easy on and off would also be good. I see that Thule has some, but they are rather pricey. Should I just get the Lexus crossbars?

Is the truck missing the crossbars? They're standard.
If missing just ask around here for people that converted and want to get rid of them. For your use you do not need anything more than that.

If you want to put them on occasionally then you have to go aftermarket. I use some older Thule low height models but they are discontinued. Just hop on their website (or Yakima, etc.) and see what they got.

It's a used 2020. No crossbars. It's a different design than the older model LX 570.

I'm in the same dilema. Picked up a 2017 LX570 that didn't come with them. I would occasionally put a roof box on for long road trips.

Now I looked around but seems they don't come with all LX..
here they usually load the LX with anything possible at the port, since the tow hitch is already built in, roof bar is common to add to the profit. Maybe people took them off before they trade in.

The Thule would be easier to remove, the OEM doesn't seem to make any noise which you probably can keep them on.

Which Thule? This Thule kit has roof bars of two different lengths, which seems unlikely to fit:
Thule WingBar Edge | Thule | United States - https://www.thule.com/en-us/roof-rack/car-roof-racks/thule-wingbar-edge-_-1035183?fitassistant=make%3ALEXUS%7CLexus%2Cmodel%3ALX+570+5-dr+SUV%7CLX%2520570%25205-dr%2520SUV%2Cyear%3A2016-2021%7C2016-2021%2Cvariation%3Aroof-type-617943%7CFlush%2520rails

This one has two bars of the same length, but I’m guessing will be noisier:

There is some info on the foot kit here for the later LX with the lower profile rails.

I think you just get the evo bar that is longer and it can sit on top of the foot.

These are what came on my 2017 lx570. It looks like a very easy add on if you don’t have them. I’m 99% sure those came from lexus. Either way, they are perfect for what I want and are farther forward then the rack on my 2015 lx570.

Just be aware on the OEM bars there is a curve up in the middle, and that it sits low from the roof panel just from the "flush" rails.

This means to check whatever roofbox clamp can clear, and for those that use a bolt inserted from the top, you don't accidentally puncture the roof panel. It's easy to miss as they usually come with 3" screws, and just because one bolt doesn't touch the roof doesn't mean the other bolts doesn't (from experience)

I don't know if it is an option, surf rods usually are 2 pieces and it's pretty easy to flip the back seat arm rest down to put the rods inside with their half lengths.

I have the OEM bars. I use them to carry a narrow cargo box occasionally - nothing heavy. I am happy with them.

Not the best pic but I carry a Thule Atlantis 1800 box, bike tray and 8 gallon ABS shower on my OEM rails without any problems. With nothing up there, there's no wind noise whatsoever and even with all that crap up there, it's maybe 1-2 dB louder inside. Certainly no whistling. Even the AT tires barely increased the on road noise.

The bars are pretty easy to take off and put back on but do require a wrench.

Unfortunately, one of my surf rods will not come apart and at 11.5’, it’s too big to be inside the cabin. And when I’m on the beach following a blitz, I just want to toss the rod up top and go. Also, we rent a house on the beach for two weeks and when we travel there we completely fill the back of my 200, so even if I could get my rds apart there isn’t much room for them.

Perhaps one of the Thule crossbar sets might be the best. I’ll check on the clamp length. IIRC, none of the bolts protrude more than an inch below the bar.

Thanks, that looks like plenty of clearance under the bars. I might go with the Thule Wingbar Evo. Since the roof rails are flush, I can’t tie anything to them, which isn’t a problem with my surf rods but would be a problem with a Xmas tree. The Wingbar Evo would allow me to tie some twine to the outside portion of the bar.
