Can't find it on Slee's site, and it's not in the MUD tech post at top of this page, either. Anyone? It's for a 97 (different from 93/4)

1) Remove dress nut.

2) Have assistant turn on radio to raise antenna.

3) Catch antenna mast and feeder as they come out.

4) Compare lengths of old feeder to new one.

5) If same, insert new mast feeder in body and have assistant power-down antenna.

6) Replace dress nut.

7)If old feeder is shorter, remove antenna from fender and dis-assemble to remove broken bit(s) of old mast and re-assemble antenna without a mast.

8) go back to #5

cruiserdan,
Got a OEM part# for the replacement mast???
Thanks in advance!

me too.. since the car wash bent my stuck-in-the-middle antenna mast today... previously bent btw... they made me sign a waiver before they would run it through the car wash, even stopped the line until I signed!

Cool Thanks... :D

Got the antenna motor loose in the fender. The antenna coax to the stereo prevents it from even protruding out so I'm going to have to do this through the hole. Looks like there are about 9 phillips head screws. Can anyone provide input how many need to come off to open it? I've got the three logical ones that seem to hold the side plate on, and the one in the center off but the cover seems to be held on somehow. I pry on it and it won't come off - snaps back with authority.

Where is that %%$&* thread?

nah, you can take the motor out of the hole, just take some wiggling around...

Well, back out to try and get it out some more. Went through all the threads (again) now that search is working again. Every few threads someone refers to one with great pictures and all but couldn't find it. Couple links to "excellent writeups" that go nowhere (outdated, I guess).

you can also use a little rubber antenna too, you know...

Nah, gotta be OEM for me!

Well, Eric's comment got me back out with new resolve and it's funny how it happened just as others have described. Remove the little rubber edge guard around the hole for just a smidgeon extra room. Then you're turning and tugging and muttering to yourself when suddenly it pops out. Strange.

My tip is to have it oriented so the tab on the gold bracket is pointing up and pull it out first. The rest soon follows and I did not remove either the bracket (obviously), or the cruise actuator. Cdan called just as I was about to issue the "radio on" command to my 4yo son, so he got to hear the victory party on speaker phone. Thanks Dan!

I lubed the long plastic gear with Amsoil synthetic heavy duty grease with moly (what else, eh?).
