I have been going over the FSM looking for a location to splice my aftermarket license plate light on my Slee rear bumper and I can't quite figure out where these are or how I should do a correct splice.

I know I could use one of those quick-splice terminals, but I have read negative things about their durability and corrosion resistance.

So my questions are:

1. Where exactly is this factory splicing location?

2. How exactly do I splice the two leads from the license plate lights correctly?

Thanks!

I used the rear hitch connector for the source of the license plate light. It already has a wire for it. Since I don't tow, I just cut off the connector, and soldered right onto the wire (cut wires, strip 1/2" on each, slide heat shrink around one side, twist wires together, solder, slide heat shrink over the joint, heat the heat shrink = Done)

Trace the wire on your existing license plate light and splice into that. no?

That would mean taking a lot of trim off of the hatch and then following a harness from the top hinge area back down.

I was hoping that someone who used to FSM splice location would chime in, thus saving me a lot of leg-work.

just tap off the park light wire from the trailer harness. e-z

This is the way the way I hooked up my slee rear bumper light as well

try for the lowest output of all time that is JUST legal. Not saying you doing anything illegal, but make it harder for "the man".
hehe
when i i pay for the beast to get washed (not very often) i STRESS to them...leave the number plates (license plates) alone.
whilst i know i am supposed to wash them...and i'll say here i do ehhe it harms my defence your honour :-) (speed cameras and reflective light abiilty etc etc...was the 1 a 1 or 7 or etc etc)

used rear trailer connector for mine...found the one for running lights....tapped in...covered with liquid tape, then with real tape....then liquid tape again. 18 months and going strong. :)
