Hey folks

I have a buddy that needs to scrap a vehicle ASAP, a 94 tracker to be exact. We were going to fix it, but the HOA will tow it before we get around to that.

We have to get rid of it before Jan 01, 2012

What scrap locations do any you have good experiences with that are not too far from Haymarket? We'll prob have to tow the vehicle out there.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Sam

Sam,

You have to pull the gas tank, battery and a few other parts.

I think the place is in Lorton but there is also a scrap place on Euclid not too far from where you work.

I'll ask where it is.

Snag the jack...

check to see if there are any pull a part yards around. the ones around here will buy a complete vehicle for a decent amount.

What Skrewball said is actually really smart or just put an ad on craigslist and sell it as a parts truck. Why junk it for scrap when you can get more $$$$

i'd like to part it out, but my buddy doesn't have a place to store parts and he's had no bites on craigslist as a whole or part out vehicle.
If it were mine i'd fix it and drive it, but he's too busy elsewhere and the vehicle will be towed relatively soon.
right now it is parked in front of another friend's townhouse with HOA rules.

I'll look up parts yards in the area. A scrap yard quoted him $230 for everything but the wheels if they pick it up.

thanks John and Vince

*btw, the vehicle is kind of POS, and was going to be a Toy rather than a DD.

Try the valley trader...you can call in an add or email one. If you do it today it will run next week.

Some yards will come pick it up. Last time I scraped a vehicle it was not worth the hassle. Call a junk yard that may come pay you to pick it up.

You got rid of the Durango?

Did he put it on any Suzuki sites? ala ZukiKrawlers, Zukiworld, zuwharrie ?

There is a good chance that someone from those sites may buy it for parts and take it away.
