so what are some good non-synthetic oils to run? as I'm getting close to being done with my engine rebuild.
i've been a solid user of valvoline, 20w50 is the weight i prefer

Yep, motor oil is almost a religion for me, with Mobil 1 the lead deity. The problem with synthetics in older vehicles is, at operating temp, they run thinner. So, if you run 10-30 petrol base with no or minor leaks, with synthetics your minor leak will look severe and it may find a place to leak from which petrols won't. There are synthetic based oils out there that are specifcally manufactured with certain additves to help older engines stop leaking. Anyway blah, blah. I agree with most people here, older engine stick with petroleum based and if you change it when you're suppose to, you won't have any problems. I do personally like Castrol GTX. Has a strong detergent additive and will keep your engine sludge down better than most, but all name brands are good, as long as you change it when you're suppose to. (running theme)

Hello again,
Thanks ever so much for all the input...

I will be attempting to post some pictures soon, I am waiting to take some final pics after it's been sprayed. I will post these in a new thread...

I have started working on the breaks, and other stuff, i will be replacing the rubber lines as they appear cracked and slightly worn.

I"m having some trouble re assembling the stearing box and linkage, but I believe I will post this in a new thread as well...

KEEP CRUSING!
Andrew.
