I get the distinct sense Toyota is clamping down. The infamous Jerry @ Midwest Superstore has changed jobs, and when you call you're informed "we no longer sell extended warranties." Combine that with countless internet searches that suggest Midwest Superstore and other places have been sent cease and desist orders for peddling low priced (but completely legal) warranties to out-of-state buyers. And then there's the added issue of me having sent emails/placed calls to 4 out of state dealers who have advertised discounted policies not returning my calls.
My strong suspicion is that either Toyota is strong-arming dealers to refuse sales that aren't in-person or in-state, or its their 2 major distributors trying to keep their dealers happy. Either way, it's starting to feel like an anti-trust / price-fixing "thing."
That said, I have neither the time nor patience to start a class action lawsuit
I just want a cheap factory warranty. Anyone have experience with an out-of-your-state dealer who sold you one recently and care to post a name?
Edit: to add to the conspiracy theory: Toyota have removed the MSRP of extended warranties from their website, so it's no longer possible to determine whether a dealer is offering a policy at, below or above list price.
