You might want to look at www.pvcruisers.com. We have a couple at the moment and are expecting a few more in the near future.:grinpimp:

Thanks

Yep, I'm running veggie oil. There's tons of diesel Cruisers up here in BC if you'd care to come up for a visit. Also, Zander on this board has an engine/tranny combo in diesel for sale if you want to do a swap. I know the drivetrain well- VERY well maintained by the P.O.

Stay away from Vintage offroad.

Do a search with that name here on mud. He is banned from dealing here. Becareful.

Just buy a canadian rig. Simpliest route for the cheapest. You can use it as a doner for a USA truck that is rust free.

Or buy an engine pkg. install that into a clean USA truck.

This is chat. And has been discussed lots of times here. Please do a little searching. In a couple days this will go to chat.

Sweet -

Thanks guys. I appreciate your chiming in. I don't have a lot of tools or expertise. I have worked on cars some but not extensively. I guess I was hoping to get an on/off road diesel cruiser that is ready to go. Although I would like to do some work on it, I don't have the tools or budget to exchange an engine. Importing from CA to US seems expensive I've read about it on here. G and S cruisers has an extensive wealth of info. also. Do most of you guys use your cruisers for off road purposes only? Are a lot of you guys mechanics or do you learn as you go?

Thanks,

CAsey

You may notice Vintage did not get a reccomendedation from anybody;)
They are the one to miss

Importing canadian cruisers to the US is not that hard.

or expensive.

If your budget is not too low. I may suggest try one of the importers on here. luxuryimports.ca
and others.

If the vehicle is 25yrs or older anything can go.
But if the vehicle was intended for the canadian market you are good to go at any age. Diesels in canada were available I think betweek 81-88......? I may be wrong.

If you want a diesel 60 there are many in Canada for cheaper. But have rust issues.

If you want a clean JDM import. It has to be over 25yrs old.

Honk on here bought a JDM BJ40 from luxury. It is a very nice truck. It came thru canada. It has to be the nicest 40 I have seen. It had cool 24v outlets for starting aircraft. Thats what it did in Japan. 40,000 kms on the clock.

Hope Honk is enjoying it.

I use my '82 BJ60 as our ONLY vehicle and use it to drive across the continent (Guatemala to British Columbia and back) at least once a year not to mention travelling in Central America and the states! I've done a diesel swap on my daughters FJ55 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=414794 and I've just bought the 3B for the FJ45LV that I'm working on now http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=416239 !
I'm NOT a mechanic and the FJ55 was my first engine swap! I've had my '82 BJ60 since 1989 and have become gradually more and more daring and thus proficient in repairing/modifying it http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=427623 and the other trucks.

Thats awesome you guys are an inspiring!! I should look into importing more!! And definately stay away from Vintage, That was out of my price range anyway. Do you find that you order parts from Australia? Is that really expensive? I want a diesel cruiser to use as an everyday driver and off road once in a while.

Thanks again

CAsey

Check this one on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...d=1,1&item=4606670359&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT

It's down in Brea so relatively close to you and already imported. Looks like it will need a lot of body work, but has really low KMs (hope the ODO hasn't been fooled with...). If you go to look at it, try to bring a cruiserhead with you. I bet there are lots in SoCal who would love to see it but they might also want to buy it. It's an 84, last year made, with a 5 speed tranny and power steering so would make a great DD. Check the frame thoroughly for rust! Canadian cruisers are notorious...

Yes importing is easy, not that expensive; I did it so anybody can...

Look at www.buysell.com as well.

You might consider looking at BJ70s, since they have much more modern interiors etc. But if you love old classics and tinkering a lot like me, get a BJ42.
