Hey... I have some "steam" coming from my vents when I turn the heat on. It does this regardless of settings. Smells sweet, so I assume it is coolant getting somewhere it shouldn't. I don't think it is just condensation. I just installed a new radiator, but it did this before the new rad. I don't like hearing bad news, but think I am prepared.

Runs pretty great aside from this, but is not as smooth at idle as it used to be.

Thanks all.

What proximity should I be checking? New to the heating system.

Thanks.

Thanks.

In the engine bay, right behind the air cleaner, mounted on the firewall.

...and if the heater valve and lines are fine I'd guess a bad heater core. From the pictures in the service manual it likes like a PITA to replace too... :frown:

Hmm. I don't really see any cracks or leaks... it does this more in the morning hours than afternoon. I really couldn't replicate the steam when I checked.

I was thinking heater core too, but hoped it might be something a bit easier (and cheaper) to deal with.

Thanks for the help so far, guys.

you might just go through the whole system and replace hoses. that way you'll get a good look at what's going on, might just be a loose fitting.

by the way, what are you using the heater for. it's hot outside

HAHA. Yeah, it is hot. This can wait until closer to winter, I guess. I just noticed it when I replaced my rad. Had to ask.
