It is finally time to buy a radiator for my 78 40......:frown:

Wondering where the best place to pick one up...quality wise and price wise..

Thanks

I had good luck with Radiator Barn when I had to get a new one for my '75. It was cheap and quick to my door. I think you'll find that others have had similar experiences, as well.

Right around $190 to your door. Go with the four core.

I got mine rebuilt (recored) rather than replaced. Just another option....

are you really TLCA# 00001?

might try the old search function.....as I am willing to bet this has come up 1000 times before

but I like Performance Radators

cabe automotive. They are out west and advertise in toyota trails magazine. I think my 60 series radiator (4 core) was $140 2 years ago.

what did the recore cost?

Bb

$100 labor plus the core ($200-$300). The shop that did it sourced a core for me from a local source, $200 for corrugated fins or $300 for straight fin. I'm sure you can get cheaper cores if you source it yourself: shouldn't be hard at all to get a recore done for $200 complete.

I went with the less-efficient straight fins because my diesel has never needed more cooling than it had and the straight fin design is more durable (its also what was stock). Given that I have read that the gassers are always after more cooling, you might choose the corrugated design. Aftermarkets will be corrugated.

[I can't really tell you why I spent the extra money just to keep some of my original parts. It just felt right, I don't want to screw with this thing again and while I've heard of aftermarket radiators lasting forever, I've also heard of them lasting not-very-long. Plus I know the shop I went to does good work.]

radiators.com

great service, you can haggle on the price, and they get it to you quick (I ordered friday before memorial day of last year and had it by 2 on Tuesday)

i think a 3 row was ~200 FWIW

i just recently purchased a ccot radiator, with hoses and the total was 300$ shipped. 4 row. real nice product.

Do you want a stock one, or upsize to a larger aluminum?

If you wanted to get a larger aluminum radiator try Howe Racing Radiators. They make a radiator for cruisers (specifically for V8 and V6 conversions). I think that mine cost about $280 but it cools like no other. Good stuff, highly recommend it.

Bought mine at performace Radiator. Its cheap.. It's aluminum. It works. It keeps everything cool. No problems so far.

Radiator Barn $195.00 for a 4 core if you purchase on-line.

I got a 4 core from radiator connection 3 years ago for $100 delivered to the door. Never had a moments problem with it.
