I've driven one. Your 40 has NOTHING to be jealous of: it's a modern bar of soap with an ipad on the dash that tells you off for looking in your back seat when you stop and beeps a warning at everything within 10'.Drove over to a friends and made my truck jealous by hopping into a 26’? Another trip up to Maine and back the next day… and will be going back Thursday lol
Collected a few bikes to go back to the house … can’t do all three off the carrier soooo had the front basket as well
Went 40 min out of my way for a $10 dwell and tach tester (it looked really nice) however I got there and he couldn’t find it

Yesterday drove Hank (1983 LX) to neighborhood swimming pool. Been scorching hot for months, was surprisingly cool for a spell so the solarium effect was minimal. Has factory AC, and I have two new cans of refrigerant, but I've never used the AC. Total fairweather toy.

Not a stock 45 , the top is longer, and a later windshield frame with a deleted wipper motor
Had some friends that wanted to check out Cerro Gordo ghost town this weekend. We lucked out and had good weather, then did some driving around in Alabama Hills.
But the 40 isn’t so happy right now; seem like I lost a little vacuum somewhere so that’s something I’ll have to look at when I get home today.

I have no fabulous views to post…. I live in a spot where you’d have to travel to find something and most of it would be oceanfront or Pine Barrens. I’m not taking my Land Cruiser near salt no matter what so the 45 has sat in the garage for the last two or three months since the 40 is a dream to drive. While on the way, I got a text from a friend of mine. I have become “mates” with @Chamba after crossing paths with him dozens of times over the years on the bring a trailer auction site. Remember , I’m still driving to the supermarket, the long way.
I respect his knowledge of Land Cruisers and his always interesting opinions. We were discussing the latest offering on BAT of an FJ 43 and I jumped in midway on bidding. However, once it exceeded what I considered to be my threshold we just watched it and texted it back-and-forth. I assumed it would hit a specific target, but it never reached reserve and closed unsold at the end. All along this exchange, I had been driving to a local supermarket and used the FJ45 as it has an excellent air-conditioning system. Today was over 85° and more than 86% humidity at times and being outside was horrific.
Over the course of time I’ve come to realize what my friend was intimating was the longer wheelbase of the 43 makes for a more pleasant ride. However, I’ve also come to realize my FJ40 is one of the best riding Land cruisers I have ever owned or driven, and I owe much of it to modernization and updating including the Terrain Tamer springs and shocks. So here I am in the 45 enjoying the Air Conditioning and picking up a few essentials.

You’re somewhat close if that’s your local grocery store, I’m in Cherry Hill right near Marlton. A few of the Keystone folks plan on running around in the pine barrens the weekend of the 12th…….
My 40 is in the garage and should drive at least around the neighborhood tomorrow after steering upgrades, adding some leafs to the front packs and re-adjustments. If it goes well I’ll take my younger daughter out to the farm past 206 for riding lessons Saturday morning- about a 35 minute drive.
@FuglyYota That store is in Jackson… it’s about 20 minutes north of me. I was in Whiting for several years and the 45 needed some exercise. My last ride through the Pine Barrens was probably in 1977? I remember the powder blue water as if it was in the Bahamas.

I have the opposite problem:
Cruiser was doing great. A true joy to drive. Wheeled everywhere I pointed it. Wife loved tooling around the valley in it. Paint was on point for my desires.
So what’s a tinkerer to do? Plan the next upgrade? No, I liked where it was; it was time to pick at something else. Picked up a 59 f100 basket case to show the boy how you can turn a lump of coal into something useable. Got some work done on it. Chassis is 90% done. Drivetrain is in place. Cruiser gets jealous and decides to turn the wiring harness to smoke…
She’s a jealous b&$@h but I love her so.
