@FJmaine sounds like fun…my wife was from Montgomery . What areas are you traveling? We would go back frequently, even owned a nice parcel of land in Montgomery Heights behind The Belfry. Looking forward to seeing your photos…strikes a chord in me

We drove through Jay and Montgomery. Camped in Fairfax and wheeled south of there. Great couple of days!

Yesterday was my 40's 50th birthday (according to @DirtDauberGarage). I spent the day running errands and prepping for a trip. Leaving today to head to northern VT to spend a couple days celebrating the 50th by driving the class 4s. I'll add some pics when I get back.

This is a great thread! Thanks for taking the time to set this up. I have a July 1976, VIN FJ40-227940. I'll plan a party if you can tell me what day?
I think it came form Kansas City area and moved to Maine. Sat in someone's garage for 10+ years before I bought it in 2020. Daily driver in the non=salted road months since 2022.
i bought it disassembled. This is what it looked like when I got it home and "reassembled" it.

It was a great birthday trip for the old girl! Logged 750 miles and averaged 12.3mi/gal (500 of those miles was towing the trailer). Couple fun days of wheeling in the woods on VT's class IV roads. Came home mostly unscathed- a little damage to the rockers, dinged up my skid plate, and broke a side marker. Otherwise she ran great for a 50 year old stock drive train!

I was 21…sounds ok to me …haha…glad you had some great ride. Behind the Montgomery school house is a path that leads to and incredible swimming hole..3 tiers and beautiful

Searched Montgomery Vermont. Came up with this.
Located near Jay Peak Resort and the Canadian border, it's a destination for outdoor recreation, with a strong community feel.

Guess that strong community feel has a different meaning than I thought.

Took Yellr back up into the Tahoe National Forest, north of Nevada City, for another shake-down run before Colorado in a few weeks.

The bumpity-bump bumps confirmed everything is still attached. Always a reassuring milestone.

Spent part of the day looking for places that no longer exist and long-forgotten cemeteries—trying to mark where history once stood before nature reclaimed it.

Speaking of things that no longer exist… I also managed to find the end of the road a couple of times.

Went camping and exploring on the Sheldon National Wildlife Refuge in northern Washoe County Nevada. Absolutely spectacular place. Antelope and Deer everywhere. Saw Badgers and Coyotes and did some fishing. Pretty sunny and hot there and I love to drive in the hinterlands with my windshield down, but still want some shade. Built a Bikini top frame from some black pipe and stuffed them into the holes where the soft top frame goes. Worked perfectly!

Was walking outside to warm up the cruiser to load up the bike rack and bikes when I found this on my dash.
Got ducked... HELL NO!
After I got over the ducking of my cruiser my girl and I went drove out with 40 loaded up for the cycling event that happens around he where they close of a stretch of streets and anyone could either walk, bike or skate. this time it was along Hollywood Blvd. Some nice old buildings that are still standing but not very many as it is getting renewed. some old dance places and my old work were I was a tow truck driver for a well known body shop.

Drove up to the local mountains for a club run. Lead a couple runs on mostly easy trails and relaxed. I needed some easy trails after my little "incident" at the Rubithon...

Nope! First thing I saw was broken glass on the ground and was thinking for a second the windshield broke but luckily it was just the mirror.

Rolled it forward to test fit my “new” trailer. It’s a 1992 ubilt trailer… one of 2000 built to these specs.
